The Kidney Check model has been awarded 2020 Healthcare Excellence Awards from Univants. Kidney Check brings together stakeholders to find and treat kidney disease as early as possible for people living in remote and rural First Nations.

It is important to consider screening kids, in addition to adults, when looking at implementing community based kidney health checks and screening.

Early detection & treatment can help prevent or delay kidney failure and the need for dialysis. Kidney Check brings point-of-care testing to rural and remote First Nations, giving participants more opportunities to keep their kidneys healthy for as long as possible.

Thanks to @TD_Canada for giving our MB team (@FNHSSM @SevenOaksCDIC @umanitoba) funds to help screen an additional 3,000 people for diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease.

The goal of Kidney Check is to help keep kidneys healthy & prevent or delay kidney problems. This includes looking for diabetes & high blood pressure. Treating and managing diabetes & high blood pressure can help stop more kidney damage from happening.
