Poetry has saved me from the dampness of my personal anger. The line breaks show me there is "break" to pause and take a breath, and move forward the close-up face of violence and try to chip a piece of quietness out of it.

In Gaza, a child is not really a child. Our eight-year-old son, Yazzan, has been talking about fetching his toys from the ruins of our house. He should be learning how to draw, how to play soccer, how to take a family photo. Instead, he is learning how to hide when bombs fall.

Recently, I told a person what my name is. He asked how about he called me Penny, easier to call. I guess he used my initial to generate that name. My name is not easy to pronounce to foreigners, but I am not a dog to change my name like that. :|
