Very sad news today about the sudden death of Eugene McGee. Famous as the manager of the Offaly team that won the All Ireland SFC in 1982, the Longford man managed Offaly from 1977 to 1984 and led them to 3 Leinster titles. He is one of Offaly's most cherished people.

The sad death has taken place of Mick O'Rourke. An all Ireland MFC winner in 1964, the Killeigh man won All Ireland senior football medals in 1971/1972 and four Leinster SFC medals. He was a fiercely tough defender in a feared defence and gave a life time commitment to GAA. RIP.

Shocking sad news this evening about the death of Paul Jordan. In his early 50s, a native of Daingean and a long time resident in Killeigh, he was a very talented footballer and soccer player in his youth and refereed a lot of football and ladies football games in recent years.

Dreadful news today with the sudden death of former Bracknagh footballer, Paul Dempsey. One of life's good guys, very genuine and decent, he was a rock solid defender for Bracknagh for years, winning an IFC medal in 2000. He played for Offaly juniors for a few years in the 1990s.

Sad news today with the death of Billy Dowling, Tullamore. He was one of the town's best loved citizens. 91 years of age, he was a familiar sight in the town until recently, he was personable, friendly and exuded decency. He was life president of Tullamore GAA Club.

The death has taken place of another Belmont man who has given a life of service to the GAA. The timing of Tommy Kenny's death is ironic considering how close it was to a long time GAA colleague and friend Tony Cassidy. Tommy was a passionate GAA activist.

Glenisk have extended their sponsorship of Offaly GAA by securing naming rights for O Connor Park. They replace Bord na Mona who surprisingly availed of an opt out clause 2 years ago. In accordance with the revised lease agreement, Tullamore GAA have to approve but should do so.
