Music theory is taught like science when it’s rlly more like grammar. Some ppl can communicate p well without knowing grammar or even being able to read, cause we pick up some things natural. But grammar can help you avoid unintentional mistakes
One of the reason J Dilla was so good at sampling and had so much range was that he had a very extensive knowledge and background in the science of music. His dad was a Jazz musician and Dilla played multiple instruments. Theory doesn't hurt, it only helps
