Congratulations to the pioneering Emergency Medicine team at Koprivnica, Croatia. It's 20 years since they completed training in partnership with Western Health. EM has gone from strength to strength. I am proud to have had a small part in this. Well done to all! @western_health

Wonderful news! Spaso Miljesic, a much loved member of the Footscray Hospital ED team and originator of the Spaso technique for shoulder dislocation reduction was made a Nursing Legend at last night's Western Health Nursing Awards. Really well deserved. @western_health

Do we need to rethink treatment of headache in EDs? Too many opioids and not enough evidence-based treatments! See https://t.co/uGtxV4eSUN @kellyam_jec @western_health

It's important to challenge dogma - in ED especially when data was not derived from ED patients. Pregnancy has been listed as a red flag for serious headache cause, but is this true in ED? Check out our findings from the HEAD studies. https://t.co/c7dCVtOHgb @western_health

Inclusion of pregnancy as a 'red flag' in ED headache assessment is not supported by these data.

Treating migraine in emergency departments is challenging and highly variable. I hope you find this insight interesting.

Congratulations to Dr Chase Schultz-Swarthfigure on his presentation at @AABHL2021. Really challenges the use of health information collected in ED for research without their consent. More work needed! @western_health

Police have powers to detail and transport people they think have mental illness and are at risk of harm. Are these powers being used appropriately? What are the outcomes? Is there a less restrictive approach? See our results in EMA. @EMAJournal @western_health @HealthLawQUT

Is the Aortic Dissection Detection Risk Score the answer for avoiding missed diagnosis of aortic dissection. Probably not. See my reasoning in Exploration of Medicine ( https://t.co/cDCWrnn4j6) https://t.co/RilSBbUOC5 @western_health

We need YOUR unique perspective on living and working through COVID-19 as an emergency nurse. Research has focused on mental health - we are exploring impact on work, study and life for ED nurses. Sorry, Australian ED nurses only. Help us pass to word! https://t.co/6ghTUdSVfy

Occupational violence in ED is a huge problem. If we can predict it and intervene, some OVA events can be avoided. See the promising outcomes in Ainslie Senz' paper on the use of the BOC chart and its response matrix in EMA. @western_health @EMAJournal https://t.co/rikFPlFgIL

ED chest pain & aortic dissection - how useful is the ADDRS score? We found following ADDRS recommended testing vastly increases CTA ordering (2200%) with only ~0.5% positives. Is this justified? Is this score really fit for purpose? https://t.co/i8vQOPhVVO @western_health

Widespread use of the ADDRS and its investigation protocol cannot be supported.
