When trying to find adverse events in healthcare, we know trigger tools are better than spotty manual review. Leveraging EMRs we’ve validated an electronic emergency department trigger tool (EDTT) across multiple sites!

Objectives We previously described derivation and validation of the emergency department trigger tool (EDTT) for adverse event (AE) detection. As the first step in our multicenter study of the...

Tele-emergency care (phone OR video visit with an ER doc) decreased ED visits by nearly half (35%->18%) among Veterans calling nurse triage and recommended to be seen within 24 hours.
Dr. Kathleen Li (@KathyLiMD) is a co-author of a study published in @AcademicEmerMed titled ''Standard nurse phone triage versus tele-emergency care pilot on Veteran use of in-person acute care: An instrumental variable analysis.'' Full text ⤵️ https://t.co/FVVQlQpABe

This 3 minute video from author accompanying editorial @AnnalsofIM is priceless! As a pathologist, he apologizes to clinicians for contributing to the “daily digital fatigue” from the 20 lines of mostly useless info in a standard CBC with differential: https://t.co/eh88JbbVwE

Oh boy, my read on this thread: we’re effectively returning to the backward state we used to be in. X-waiver gone in name only. Just replacing 1 barrier with another. Whose interests are we protecting here?—definitely not patients!
It's very exciting that the X-waiver-- a major barrier to to the treatment of opioid use disorder will soon be repealed! However, there is a small wrinkle. The 8-hour training requirement that the Administration had effectively gotten rid of, is coming back-- at least for some!

Grateful @UMichiganEM @UMKelloggEye for kindly and diligently supporting my return to health. Scary, traumatic (⚽️ to eye) 100% right eye hyphema & complete loss of vision ➡️ seeing (mostly) normally, although with still a bit more healing and care ahead.
