Somehow--just a coincidence, I'm sure--every election comes down to demanding that the Democrat release a bunch of nonroutine records. Kerry's military records. Obama's birth certificate/college transcript/etc. Hillary's emails. Biden's UDelaware archives. Golly. I wonder why?
I hate it when Twitter forces me to defend Donald Trump, but his "bloodbath" comment was about what he thinks will happen to the US auto industry if he's not elected. Without high tariffs, he believes China will take over.
"Nearly everyone in California will pay less for insurance in 2020 than in 2019. This is what can happen when a state is actually serious about making Obamacare work as well as possible for everyone."
FWIW, I'd vote for "Rebuild the Police." Simple, clear, and obviously means we want a *better* police force, not no police force. And not as tepid as "Reform the Police."
"I have previously criticized Republicans who accused liberals of wanting 'open borders.' President Trump tweets about this endlessly. But I have to admit that it’s hard to see much daylight between Warren’s plan and de facto open borders."
The courts forced Hillary Clinton to release every single email she wrote as Secretary of States, but won't make Wilbur Ross undergo a single deposition about the 2020 census. I guess there's a reason for this, but jeez.
It's pretty amazing the amount of abuse
@jessesingal
and
@jonathanchait
take from progressives on Twitter just because they're slightly less progressive.
"Teenagers today are just generally nicer, politer, and less likely to get in trouble than at nearly any time in the postwar era. It’s amazing what happens when you halt the practice of poisoning people and turning them into monsters, isn’t it?"
Can we please stop with the "Day 1" stuff for Biden? Even FDR got a hundred days. Besides, most of these Day 1 ideas are harder than people think. How about if we give the guy a whole year?
I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book! I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist. Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!
Was chatting with the guy who owns the the yacht berthed next to mine, and he says he's really having trouble finding barnacle cleaners these days. Unemployment payments need to stop now so people will get back to work!
It was great being with Chairman Kim Jong Un of North Korea this weekend. We had a great meeting, he looked really well and very healthy - I look forward to seeing him again soon....
There sure are a lot of people on Twitter who are convinced the FDA process for approving vaccines is just a bunch of bullshit even though they have no idea what that process is or why it's in place.
Democrats do not advocate open borders. Democrats have placed a number of immigration proposals on the table over the past decade or so, and they’re all easy to find and read.
"I still can’t help but feel that something non-obvious happened around the year 2000 to produce a sea change in both the global economy and our response to it....But I confess that I’m no closer to an answer today than I was eight years ago."
Everything is personal for Trump. Here's his latest comments on the Paris climate accord -- “Would I go back in? Yeah, I’d go back in. I like, as you know, I like Emmanuel," the French president.
Selling arms to Saudi Arabia, in whatever quantities, will not generate 500,000 jobs. Or 600,000 jobs. Or 1 million jobs. The entire defense industry only employs about 300,000 people in the first place, and Saudi Arabia is not that big a customer.
So how long will it be before Trump realizes just how insulting Mattis's letter was and starts a whole tweet tantrum about how Mattis was a terrible SecDef all along?
"The Beverly Hills market softened considerably last year and a home like this one should probably sell in the neighborhood of $10-11 million. So why did this Indonesian guy pay Trump Jr. $13.5 million? We can guess, but I suspect we will never know."
L'Affaire Covington is, at bottom, about a bunch of teenage boys. No matter who's right, it ranks about
#1000
on my list of things to worry about. I hope it doesn't turn into a hill for everyone to die on.
The lab leak zealots are weird. They keep posting screen shots of Slack and email messages as PROOF of bad conduct, so I click. And there's nothing. Just nothing. What do these people see?
The Veterans Choice Act was signed into law by President Obama in 2014, not by Trump. In 2017 Trump signed a bill approving a new version of the act that he likes better, but without bothering to fund it.
"By definition, leaking is against government policy...But surely Comey's act was more whistleblowing than leaking? It exposed clear wrongdoing on the president’s part. No classified information was put at risk and no investigations were compromised."
Has anyone else noticed that Taibbi presents emails out of chronological order and pretty obviously shows only a part of the email chain? It feels very cherry picked.
