Today is publication day for my first book, Radical Volunteers! Many thanks to @hollynathaniel and @UGAPress for believing in the project. In light of recent protests, it’s more important than ever to bring some historical context to student activism.

As a historian who has spent months in the National Archives, I say (not lightly) this U.S. Archivist should b fired. The National Archives should b concerned w/preserving & presenting the truth--nothing else. This is what historian @TimothyDSnyder calls "anticipatory obedience."

WSJ reports that the National Archives museum has removed references to Martin Luther King, Japanese internment, Native Americans, union organizers, and birth control, because presenting American history honestly would make Republicans uncomfortable https://t.co/CznEIKHGMh

Guess what's back. Yes, https://t.co/pvwAEWBN0Z and https://t.co/lmq8xJV8dv are back, as well as https://t.co/wPEvAlOiJE (Wayback Machine) and all those amazing items. Some of the features are not up yet, but rest assured we're working on it and our tired devs will prevail.

Tuesday is 60th anniversary of an event that shaped our world: The Berkeley Free Speech movement, which set the stage for modern liberalism - and the right's backlash How bittersweet that a wave of campus repression is drowning their victories. My column🎁 https://t.co/UJxjSIMBIn

And here we go, UTPD joins the fray in riot gear. Too bad the administration doesn’t remember how this went in 1970…
