your closest friends don't have to have the same ambitions or even the same interests as you. they just have to be open and loving enough to support you in your own
like when it comes to "pursuing your goals", the question to ask is: what is more likely to help you – knowing that your friends are pursuing the same goals, or just having friends who you love being around, so that you're more happy and fulfilled while pursuing your goals?
I've gone back and forth on this a lot but it feels clearer to me now. I still think it's great to have a community of people who have the same interests as you so that you can learn together and help each other, but it doesn’t need to be true of your closest friends

Yes! I really love that my closest friends are on completely different paths and have other interests, because there’s absolutely no competition and you get different perspectives on things and expand your world in a way. No one has to “get it” we’re just excited and supportive
