With 'The Baltimorons', Jay Duplass delivers a cosy, comforting yuletide tale of unexpected connection and festive serendipity. I had the pleasure of seeing this at this year's @MIFFofficial. A new Christmas classic. Read my full review at @_thisisfilm https://t.co/6Ki28rNReU

Playing at @MIFFofficial, Kim A. Snyder’s powerful documentary 'The Librarians' chronicles the fight against censorship in an era of Christian nationalism. This pressing film offers hope to a dangerous situation. Check out my full review at @NovastreamN https://t.co/nFgKTMA5gP

As my MIFF-scapade rages on, Slovenian filmmaker Urška Djukić's debut feature 'Little Trouble Girls' is delicate, disquieting, and drenched in desire. The film plays at @MIFFofficial online until Aug 31st. Read my full review at @NovastreamN https://t.co/lwAVRC7RWv

Based on the beloved video game, 'Exit 8' is a very dramatic version of spot-the-difference. I enjoyed it, even if it puts you through one too many loops. Playing at MIFF on the 16th and 22nd August, read my full review at #TheCurb https://t.co/o3Huyq9TBL

Amy Pond, Belinda Chandra, Motherhood, and Misogyny. A very important 🧵 because I think the comparison of these two story arcs is actually quite interesting for what it shows about the strengths and shortcomings both possess from a character writing standpoint.

While everyone makes important strides towards progressing the plot, Belinda was literally in a box holding a baby. I can’t possibly think of anything more reductive for a companion who already hardly had any characterization before now. It’s not just that it doesn’t make sense.

'Sinners' is one of the best films of the year, and we aren't even halfway. If you see it in IMAX, the aspect ratio widens to complete visual, auditory, and spiritual splendour. I write about Blues, vampires, and historical fiction for The Curb below: https://t.co/mo3Z6jucrs

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is a Southern Gothic fable that combines music, history, religion, and horror: building into an imaginative, cinematic eruption. Set in 1932 in rural Mississippi, the film...

'The Accountant 2' is back with far less accounting but a lot more laughs. When it's a thriller, it's weak. When it's an actioner, it's passable. When it's a comedy , it's a TOTAL blast. Read all my thoughts for The Curb below!🧾 https://t.co/bXIRUATR7I

I was quite disappointed in 'Death of a Unicorn' it's another entry into the genre of what I call 'Eat the Rich' fatigue - broad class satires that offer nothing original or creative. An enticing premise is wasted on shoddy vfx and messaging. Read below: https://t.co/Ti9MUBbnAt

Jason Statham and David Ayer have a waning formula that, when utilised in A Working Man, sees the lead actor clock back in for another violent round of tedious shift work. Just watch The Beekeeper instead. Read my full review at The Curb below: https://t.co/LzJ8BV2MWs

Disney's Snow White's newly revised Princess of the People fails to rejuvenate Disney's waning kingdom. Not as atrocious as the current review-bombing campaign, but far from good. Gal Gadot, however, is that atrocious. Check my review out @_thisisfilm https://t.co/aeCDRuMsmd

'The Alto Knights' tries very hard to recreate the success of Nicholas Pileggi's previous writing credits on 'Casino' and 'Goodfellas', but even Scorsese would be shaking his head. Double De Niro does not equal double the fun. My review @_thisisfilm https://t.co/KUbYIxYwoY
