This morning I woke up to an email saying I was awarded the @NSF graduate research fellowship (GRFP)! This is an incredible opportunity & I’m extremely grateful for all the mentors/peers who helped me get to this point including PIs, profs, and PhD students I’ve worked with! (🧵)

One of my favorite quotes says, “just because someone carries it well, doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy.” We all carry our burdens differently. Let's be there for one another, offering a listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and empathy to make the world kinder 🤎 (13/end 🧵).

Especially with everything going on in the world, now more than ever, it’s so important to radiate love + understanding because you really never know what someone is going through. (12/13).

#WorldMentalHealthDay shouldn’t be the only day we talk about these issues + I personally have aimed to use my limited platform to talk about them more (11/13).

The uncertainty of moving to a new state and living alone brought concerns about my mental health. And thankfully, I’ve already met some of the most wonderful people who have quickly become new friends. (10/13).

And of course all the wonderful people in my life who've been there when I needed them most and understood when I needed space, are my bedrocks of support. I'm fortunate, but many struggle in silence, afraid to open up about their challenges to loved ones and the world. (9/13).

I’m working on my issues with perfection but also learning to say no when I need to. Moving to Utah was a gift - it taught me to slow down and be gentle with myself. Learning to love myself, mentally and physically, takes time and patience. (8/13).

Now for some of the little strategies that have helped me: nature is my sanctuary, journaling has become pivotal, and small daily routines are game-changers. All of these have reminded me that even small achievements are worth celebrating. (7/13).
