Pray for your pastor today that his preaching & life might showcase Christ. Read this today from Francis Grimké, "The aim of our preaching should be to bring Christ to the front, to set forth his ideals and principles, & to live them ourselves & to get others to do the same."

One of the best things about working @RefBibleCollege is having an office next to Ben Shaw. This @TGC article captures so much of what I appreciate about him. https://t.co/5wgVUsq4cY

The students didn't read. And you can't read the Bible well if you don't read.

My son gave me The Pedestrian to read. We talked about how technology can dehumanize us. Three Takeaways: 1. Short stories are underrated. 2. Ray Bradbury could flat-out write. 3. I love learning from my kids.

Kuyper, "Religion on earth finds its highest expression in an act of prayer." Warfield said much the same. The point? Prayer reminds us as Christians that both faith and life depend on God.

Ken Stewart continues his impressive & wide ranging assessment of 20th century developments of Calvinism in America. Esp glad to see his interaction w/ Jim Boice’s important @CTmagazine 1975 article, “Is the Reformed Faith Being Rediscovered?”

In the first two decades of this century, we witnessed a significant resurgence of Calvinism. In recalling this, we can admit that it is probably for the good that the frenzied publicity of the first...

So, I've been listening to Les Misérables. It's fabulous, even if melodramatic. The best part is the description of Bishop Bienvenu in the opening two books. A deeply moving portrait of pastoral care. Highly recommended, especially for those in ministry.

History is philosophy teaching by examples, said Lord Bolingbroke, riffing on an old axiom. If that's true, then church history is theology teaching by examples. We discussed this yesterday @RefBibleCollege as we kicked off the new year. So glad to have students back on campus!
