Be a good leader (not just in name but in reality). Be honest. Be willing to say “I don’t know”. Be human. Be a teammate. And of you can do that, you and your team can achieve ANYTHING you set out to do. And if you can’t, well then I guess you shouldn’t be a leader.

The work of the team makes the leader shine brightest. Good leadership recognizes that. Have a goal. Have a plan to reach those goals. Clearly communicate the goals and the plan so that you AND your team can work to achieve them. It’s not a one man show.

Create a safe working and learning environment for your team. Get to know your team and their role in meeting your goals. Set expectations of them as your team and let them give expectations of you as their leader. Set the example. Grow them as you’re growing yourself.

Be the leader who is a team player, who is distributive and is a visionary. Don’t be the leader who doesn’t listen, builds a toxic office culture and only thinks about themselves.

It is important to lead with love and kindness. In my professional experience, when leaders are genuine, thoughtful, understanding, supportive and believe in their team the possibilities are endless! When you have a leader who is the opposite, you reduce trust AND productivity.

Always a great time with my NC Homeless Ed family at this year’s @NAEHCY conference. We not only learned from colleagues across the country but we were able to share our expertise with them as well though multiple NC led sessions. #NAEHCYNowNAEHCYNext #NAEHCY2024

Everyone can play a role in #SuicidePrevention. When you start a conversation with a loved one who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide, & when you offer support & model self-care, you are providing hope to those who may need it most. #SPM24 #SuicidePreventionMonth
