Also wanted to give a shout out to who hosted Hanif as part of their monthly open mic poetry nights. A welcoming, inclusive space, was inspiring to see so many people of all backgrounds reading their poetry. (They even had one Scottish guy read. ).

For @TopTweetTuesday I wanted to recommend checking out Ohioan poet Hanif Abdurraqib. Was lucky enough to get the chance to see Hanif in Cleveland last week where he read a selection of thoughtful, socially conscious poetry with grace and humour….

Watched a couple of hours of the original #LiveAid yesterday. Didn’t have time to watch the whole thing, but no-one is going to top this amazing duet from Paul Young and Alison Moyet. .

A short poem from an under-appreciated Scottish poet for you. (No, not me.) This is from Charles Senior, a self-educated poet from Glasgow who, in the 60s, moved to live in Orkney and became close friends with the great George Mackay Brown.

Coming soon! My friend @paultmjackson’s translation of Dumas’ lost masterpiece “Isaac Laquedem.” This is the book that Alexandre Dumas considered to be “the capital work of my life” and it is amazing to me that this is the first time anyone has translated it into English.

Two short poems I wrote for @TopTweetTuesday, inspired by the sight of a Scottish park in the summertime. The first poem is just under 80 words, and the second a condensed version of exactly 12 words. Let me know what you think. #TopTweetTuesday #TapsAff
