Continuing to grind through our #soybean variety trials across the state of MS. As expected, as we move into later planted stuff, the yields will begin to fall off a bit.

Checking IDC plots today. Fe Chlorosis in #soybeans in Eastern Mississippi is pretty common and the only economical management option is variety selection. This year we are screening over 100 varieties for their IDC tolerance. #MSU_extension

Late season nutrient deficiency has been the common problem this week in Mississippi #soybeans. A lot of times this takes place when we have shallow rooting systems that occur as a result of compaction, abnormal soil pH, or excess soil moisture. @MSUExtService

The @baldpathologist and I got called to a field today to look at what might appear like some kind of disease in #soybean. It actually turned out to be a scattered case of injury from Dectes Stem Borer in the trifoliate petiole. No yield impact expected here. @MSUExtService

Got called to multiple fields today with what appears to be manganese deficiency. This can happen when soil pH is high (7.0+). In these fields soil pH was around 7.5. #manganese

22 days after planting, we have emergence! Stand isn’t great, but it’s there. In the coming weeks, we will get stand counts to compare to seeding rates to determine percent emergence. #2xAg2030 @MUExtAgEnviron
