John Garris was one of the best humans I've ever met. Period, end sentence. Even when I hadn't seen him for a couple of years or even if we only had a chance for a 30-second conversation, he always (ALWAYS) had an encouraging word. That was John's way.

Former Wisconsin and Oklahoma P Paytn Monticelli is transferring to LSU. Monticelli posted a 2.58 ERA, 2 wins, and 43 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of work in two years in Norman. As a freshman at Wisconsin in 2023, she posted a 2.71 ERA in 80 innings.

Former Florida OF Layla Lamar is transferring to Duke. The daughter of Blue Devils head coach Marissa Young, Lamar appeared in 16 games as a Gator freshman in 2025 and notched 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Slugger Maalia Cherry is staying in the Big West and headed to UC San Diego from Cal State Bakersfield. An all-conference honoree as a rookie, she hit .336 as a freshman in 2025 with a 1.129 OPS, 13 home runs, and 37 RBIs.

Pitcher Presley Hosick is transferring to Miami Ohio. She started her career at Cal Baptist and Minnesota and has one year left to spend in Oxford. An all-WAC honoree at CBU in 2024, Hosick owns a 3.48 career ERA with 23 wins and 124 strikeouts in 263 innings of work.

Former Angelo State P Cheyenne Floyd is transferring to Central Arkansas. An two-time All-American and the Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2024, Floyd owns a 1.95 career ERA with 55 wins, a .199 opponent's batting average, and 480 strikeouts in 485.2 innings of work.
