This little lady came into my life several years ago and this photo represents the actual moment she realised she could walk all over me for the rest of time.
She was awarded the title ‘Nyx - Queen of the Night’ but seven years later still only responds to ‘BabyCat’.
At my local cafe, the young barista, an overseas student, said the whole mood of the customers has changed dramatically. People who she has never seen smile are beaming from ear to ear. She doesn’t follow Australian politics but says it’s obvious something wonderful has happened.
John Howard started the chaplains in schools programme in 2007 and now Australia is a less religious society. I’m guessing it didn’t quite go to plan.

How dare the prime minister go to a strategic meeting with NATO when Zali Steggall wants him here to negotiate with her about having more staff than the standard backbencher.

A freshly defrosted John Howard waffling on about his cabinet decisions from twenty years ago on
#ABCTV
. Let’s all remember, Captain Arne Rinnan of the MV Tampa won two international awards for his actions and John Howard didn’t.
There are Liberal trolls spreading the nonsense that Brittany Higgins deliberately brought down a Liberal government. The reality is Scott Morrison & his motley crew of corrupt frontbenchers did that all on their own. They didn’t need anyone’s help.
At the servo today to buy sandwich, paper etc.
Me: “herald please”
Attendant: “because you bought other stuff, the telegraph & Australian are free”
Me: “no thanks, they’re rubbish, I don’t read them even if they’re free”
Attendant: “you’re not the 1st to say that”
Much laughter.
Why is Fauziah Ibrahim still working weekend breakfast when it became so blatantly obvious how partisan her politics were? Happy to list Labor trolls but no list of Liberal trolls. Is this acceptable
#ABCtv
, now? Or do we have different standards for breakfast tv these days?
Now this is humanity. An old bloke on the news about what he did when he found three refugees outside of Broome.
He took them home, gave them a ‘feed’, water and a shower.
Twitter have been complaining about the bias of certain presenters on ABC’s breakfast show & the ABC have dismissed the complaints. Viewers turned off on response. The management have themselves to blame for dismissing twitter as irrelevant when it is in fact ‘instant feedback’.
A friend of mine had his pension cut off by Centrelink today because they couldn’t contact him by phone. He doesn’t own a phone! They didn’t bother sending a letter to his address, they just cut him off, can’t pay his rent or shop for food. Apparently phones are now compulsory.
Do I have this right? Alan Tudge gets to make decisions about other people’s character when deciding if they get a visa or not? Does he use his ‘Christian’ values, his political values or his after work barroom values?
Australian Open:
Gin & tonic - $14.20
A seat for the finals - $2000
Booing the prime minister because he supports workers more than the stinking rich - priceless.
What a disgraceful act by Pro Palestinian Protesters to gatecrash Carols just before a kids performance.
Not the time and Not the Place
#carolsbycandlelight
When Scott Morrison apologised to Brittany Higgins in parliament did he do it deliberately so it would delay Bruce Lehrmann’s trial until after the election? Considering this & Cash & Reynolds testimony, this trial is looking like a political quagmire.
Sussssan Ley complaining about the cost of moving politicians around the country so they can get to work. Forgetting, of course, the cost of jetting herself to the Gold Coast to buy an apartment cheaply from a political donor.
#ABCnews
If you live in a blue ribbon seat and think your vote doesn’t count, remember in recent history three previously prime ministerial seats have fallen to independents - Bennelong, Waringah and Wentworth.

Hilarious question from Dutton, “when did the prime minister’s office know about the alleged sexual assault of BH?”
Dutts didn’t like the answer one bit, nor did the member for Cook.

I love how Dutton is saying Labor has to treat Australians with respect. This from the party of

! Help me, I can’t breathe because the hypocrisy is literally breathtaking.
David Elliot to resign, a police minister who welcomed the strip searching of children, who harassed a young P plater in a road rage incident while impersonating a police officer, also illegally used a prohibited weapon. As Emergency minister went on holiday during a major fire.
I love how the
#ABCnews
has announced the world community is concerned about the lack of Covid data coming out of China without mentioning the complete lack of Covid data being reported in Australia. Our media, including the
#ABC
, is remarkably silent on this issue. Seriously?
I’ve now formed the view that Drumgold was taken down because he …
1) complained of political interference in the Lehrmann case;
2) complained about the federal police;
The conservatives could not let that stand, something had to be done and Sofronoff made sure it happened.
@TheWrongNoel
I used to think to work in Human Resources you’d have to be good with people. Experience has consistently proved me wrong. HR people tend to be sociopaths.
So proud of NSW police. It only took two fit young men to bring down a seventy eight year old frail lone protester and put him in hospital and who’s sign has been previously determined by the courts to be non offensive.

Qantas flights to Hobart with cabin crew wearing Palestinian badges. When they land and cut the engines, the whining continues … particularly from the seat with a young liberal in it.
@andrewprobyn
Things not mentioned by Andrew Probyn today:
The prayer room
Dutton’s coke mates
The hands on treasurer
Aspen medical
Porter’s trust
Trudge’s whereabouts
The number of people no longer living with Covid
If the referendum is voted down & Indigenous Australians don’t get a voice then I think all other non-elected voices should be suspended from the halls of parliament. No more lobbyists, think tanks and various other political hangers-on.

“We didn’t win the last election(s) because Labor weaponised Higgins”
That’s not why you didn’t win, you’re forgetting Morrison, Tudge, ‘well done’ Angus, the massive corruption, lack of energy policy, your ‘women’ problem, … I could go on but twitter has text limits.

Hard earned wealth? Her father died and left her a rather large share portfolio. She decided it wasn’t enough so she sued her step mother. Later on she didn’t want her kids to get the fair share their grandfather left them so she sued them as well. National hero indeed.
I don’t recall the coalition asking labor’s opinion on the appointment of Phillip Lowe as reserve bank governor when they were in government.

The real reason Qantas picked a woman as CEO is her pay is 20% less than Alan Joyce’s starting salary was 15 years ago! I thought we were up to the bit where women got equal wages?

If you’re been following my potential Covid journey over the last few days. I took a turn for the worse on Friday arvo, drop in BP, difficulty breathing, feeling faint. I’m now in hospital. My test was positive & I’m being monitored. X-rays, IV fluids. Probably release tomorrow
Before you vote tomorrow, you should be aware Scott Morrison has come out in support of Perrottet, he has been quoted as saying he & Dom are cut from the same cloth. So I’m guessing Scott thinks Dom is a lying, conniving cheat totally lacking in empathy.

Browsing the list of hopefuls for Marise Payne’s senate seat, I note a common theme:
◦Failed former ACT senator Zed Seselja
◦Failed former Wentworth MP Dave Sharma
◦Failed former Berejiklian minister Andrew Constance
◦Failed former NSW MLC Lou Amato (dumped by Perrottet)
It’s official. The opposition has no policies. Confirmed by a smiling Jane Hume on

This was not a mistake, it was a deliberate action for commercial gain. If it’s not a crime it should be. Shouldn’t be allowed to trade in Australia ever again.

I saw a table of guys dressed in suits at a local bar having a Halloween party on the weekend. I went up to them and said “have you guys come as young liberals to frighten the sh*t out of the kids?” … None laughed so I suspect they were real young libs.
Health update: had a heart attack while I was in the emergency department so I got whisked off was given an angiogram and a new stent, feeling much better now. It’s remarkable how quickly you feel better when your heart actually starts getting blood to it.
Oh dear! A Liberal Party donor with alleged mafia links has been executed outside of his home in Melbourne. How will the Victorian Liberals make up the shortfall in funding?
The Mid-Winter Ball is on tonight. That time of year when conservative politicians take their loved ones out for a big night and leave the wife at home.

What is it with NSW police. The manager of one of Australia’s most well known rock bands, INXS, is beaten to death in an inner city lane way and they fail to do basic forensics?
Had a chat last night with a restauranteur about rejoining the workforce after retiring from hospitality a few years ago. Told him I don’t have the energy for a hard bar shift but he thinks I would be ideal as a host on a busy night, meeting & greeting customers …
The latest Liberal Party plan to attract more female voters. Sue the victim of rape for not being apologetic enough. Brought to you by the atrocious Dutton & Reynolds.
In relation to recent reporting on Lidia Thorpe’s behaviour:
Having worked in the nightclub industry for many years, If several men have drama with a woman outside a nightclub at 3am, there’s a very strong chance the men were acting like arseholes.
#LidiaThorpe
Great day for Australian women. Attorney general launches defamation action against a prominent female investigative journalist, Dutton shuts down speech about liberal staffer brutally raped in minister’s office, ...
Australia is about to criminalise wage theft. Companies have complained the pay awards are complex and sometimes honest mistakes are made. Strangely, no one ever gets accidentally overpaid.
Unexpected item in the payroll area:
Woolworths underpaid staff by $1.2 million, blaming overly complex awards system. Fortunately for management, they managed to pay all executives correctly, so swings & roundabouts.
At Mardi Gras time try to remember not to use gendered terms such as policeman or policewoman. Gender neutral terms such as “tools of the capitalist state” are considered more correct.
Rexona sell a type of deodorant that purports to offer ‘72hr’ protection. I wonder exactly who the target market is for this. Who after having a shower applies deodorant & thinks to themselves “well, that’s me covered for the next 3 days”?
Timor Leste to form a strategic partnership with China. I think we can lay the blame for that squarely at the feet of Howard & Downer for the spying and stealing gas & oil revenue. Timor Leste can’t trust Australia to do the right thing.

A few Yes corflutes in my street but no No ones. Does this mean all my neighbours are Yes voters or are the No voters too embarrassed to admit to the rest of the neighbourhood they support the policies of Dutton, Littleproud, Price, Mundine, Hanson et al?

The new Misinformation Bill exempts political parties & the media from scrutiny. Think about that for a minute. They want to be able to lie & misinform. The next time you listen to a politician or read the media, remember they specifically wanted the right to lie to you.
Let me get this straight, this invoice shows 4 covers, Bruce has the steak & veg, the two seven executives & the coke dealer have prawn toast, am I getting this right?
“We’re not going to shut you down” - Tony Burke, leader of the house, to the opposition leader. Note: the government has not once used the “I move the member no longer be heard” motion since being in power, despite this being the favoured tactic of Dutton.
#qt
Liberal MP, Ian Goodenough, the member for Moore, has lost his preselection for his electorate to former MP Vince Connelly. This despite him being supported by Dutton. Clearly the Liberal Party don’t think Dutton’s choice is Goodenough anymore.
