Next week I’ll be taking part in the Giornata di studi sui sarcofagi paleocristiani, organized by @dai_weltweit (Rome) in collaboration with @Musei_Vaticani On November 6 at 16:35, I’ll give a talk on the Early Christian sarcophagi of Tarragona.

Next week the UISPP Archaeometry Conference will take place in Crete 🇬🇷. On Saturday, November 8, LIVART will present research on the production aspects of Roman decorative sculpture, based on a multidisciplinary archaeometric approach. Looking forward to sharing our results!

Next week (Tuesday 21st), LIVART will be at the in Berlin for the Digital Classicist Seminar (BBAW/@AntikeKolleg /@HumboldtUni ), exploring the potential and limitations of 3D digitization applied to Greco-Roman sculpture.

LIVART has also been working at home in two ways: the Department of Classical Archaeology of the @UniBonn hosts the Akademisches Kunstmuseum, which houses a huge volume of plaster casts, some referring to sculptures now of unknown whereabouts.

Monopodia are among the most beautiful&original Roman decorative sculptures. These table supports, often adorned with divine figures, have Greek origins. Workshops in the eastern Mediterranean exported them across the Empire. 📸Comparandum of several monopodia depicting Eros

Last week, LIVART travelled to Slovenia 🇸🇮 to take part in the 14th ASMOSIA conference hosted at the @FFLjubljana I presented a contribution on the use of marmor Numidicum (giallo antico) in decorative #RomanSculpture from the Iberian Peninsula ✨🏛️

Had a great time presenting at the WAWIC 2025! Huge thanks to the Iconography panel organizers, Marta Nicolas-Muelas and Julio Ruiz. In short, the evolution of the naval ram can be traced through the motif of Odysseus and the Sirens.

Among the highlights: a visit to the Archaeological Museum (@ArchMusMS), home to many fascinating antiquities — including this beautiful archaizing herm of Dionysus, a sculptural type commonly found in Roman houses. 🍇🏛️

These days, LIVART has travelled to Münster to co-organise the session Iconography of War within #WAWIC2025. A great opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the city’s cultural heritage. @martarqueo @julioce_ruiz_
