Republicans are fast-tracking HB 1639, mandating all Florida health care plans cover anti-LGBTQ conversion therapy-- a dangerous and debunked practice that falsely claims to turn gay people straight and trans people cis. And it will RAISE insurance costs on ALL Floridians.

Florida Republicans have just filed a bill to provide civil liabilities to fetuses. It would even allow for people who help someone get an abortion be sued. Because a 6 week abortion ban isn’t extreme enough. Link: https://t.co/bqHejdjGFL

SOCIOLOGY MAJORS BE AWARE! The BOG is attempting to remove sociology as a general education course in FL universities. This is 100% a political decision as it was not recommended by the committee evaluating Gen Ed courses.
THEN THERE IS THIS! The BOG voted to eliminate sociology classes from General Education Courses. This came as an amendment at the meeting and is insane -- how do students learn about sociology if the gen ed option is taken away from them? Clearly that is the point.

The focus for many of us at today's Board of Governors (BOG) meeting was the banning of funding for DEI programs via a *very* broad and political definition of DEI, however the BOG also voted on several other alarming provisions you need to be aware of. 1/
