The Patient ID Now coalition is disappointed that the patient ID ban remains in the FY23 omnibus bill. The lack of a national strategy on #patientID harms patient safety and privacy, and adds to the cost burden borne by patients and hospitals.

Agree. This is not optimizing digital care for our patients. @SusanHouckClark - I have also used my connections to get things done, but this is NOT best practice. @AHIMAResources
Their policy is that you have to go in person to be given portal access even with signed consent by patient. Totally defeats the purpose of far away family needing access. I advised that this policy needs to change globally but I think they saw it as a single case exception. š¤¦
