i found out today that this is, in a literal and not-joking way, totally legal in serious competition (as long as 85% of the thickness is wood)

very cool and unusual dodging game. deserves a LOT more attention. physics and AI are tuned to unbelievable perfection. as usual though i really wish i didn't have to do the easy part every time i want to play the hard part (see angel game). can anyone beat my 55?

suddenly thinking again about the time when i was 16 and my driving instructor said "I'm going to do a real thief thing" before getting out of the car we had parked near a neighbor's apple orchard, and picking an apple.

And we should all definitely stop quote tweeting things that suck to say "hey man this sucks" and thereby give that shitty thing a greater audience, especially when it's a blue check account that gets money from us doing that. Bad things won't go away when you do that, they grow.

if you don't own a car, you should be allowed to use a parking-space-sized patch of street near your house for your own purposes - like a picnic bench, washing line, raised bed/planter, etc

hi @patio11, this claim, which i deeply hope is misinformation, is going around quite a bit on bluesky. if you're able to get someone to put out a statement to the contrary that would be really helpful.

Sad news: we did everything we could, but we couldn’t save The Unofficial Homestuck Collection. Here’s what’s been going on behind the scenes. Sorry in advance; it's real bad.

good thread that taught me, reader of several books about the history of computing, quite a few things that were conspicuously not in them!

something that I really dislike about certain """progressive""" literature on the history of computing, such as A People's History of Computing in the United States, is the way the authors attempt to address sexism in computing by mentioning the same thing every few pages

everything i know about Freud i learned from the Roald Dahl book about spermjacking him. so no real opinions there. BUT, "because heads is one of the options" is a pretty good partial answer, and if you didn't know that, it seems like quite a useful question!
