This record is 50 years old. But this run of ballads sounds so sophisticated and haunting that you that timescale feels impossible. The Isley Brothers 70s albums contain many of the greatest ever soul songs but are still under-appreciated.

The new @DJ_Indications album. Just head and shoulder above any else around at the moment. Strings and horns with tight vocals and gusto. Love them so much. Get the UK tour tickets- they’re superb live. Revives my faith in new soul music.

Huge losses this week, the Golden Generation almost gone. Roberta Flack’s legacy is rightly well established but feel Chris Jasper’s transformative impact on the Isleys over 10 years is not lauded enough. Sad week.

Very pleased that Santa delivered me this, as was very excited. Have boxes of Record Mirrors in my loft which I only bought for the James Hamilton columns. My collection is 85 to 89 so this gorgeous book fills so many gaps! Order one!!
