While imprisoned in the Lida Ghetto, Michael Stoll learned of the Bielski partisans and vowed to escape and join the group. That chance came when he and 11 others jumped from a train bound for Majdanek Concentration Camp. #JewishPartisans

After fighting the Nazis as Jewish partisans, Michael Stoll (left) and Ted Winestone (z"l) served in the U.S. military after immigrating to the United States. Michael served in the Army and Ted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

On November 9th and 10 of 1938, the Nazis and their collaborators burned and destroyed more than 260 synagogues and 7,000 Jewish owned businesses throughout Germany during "the Night of Broken Glass."

Charles Bedzow (z"l) and his family made a risky escape from the Lida Ghetto in 1942 and joined the Bielski Brigade. At age 17, Charles became a Bielski partisan, collecting supplies for the group, scouting, and going on sabotage and ambush missions.

Today we celebrate Marisa Diena (z''l), born in Turin, Italy in 1916. When Nazis occupied her hometown, Marisa fled into the mountains to join the partisans. Marisa is featured in JPEF’s new lesson plan, Jewish Women in the Partisans, now available at https://t.co/i8ltLSjGmw
