A tale of 2 dinners over 3 days. 2015 & 2016 #Sesti Brunello di Montalcino… paired with a #Baricci Rosso 2023 & a @CastiglionBosco #Millecento 2019. It all does exactly what we need it to do. Mise en place. 💙💙

The #Gorelli was beautifully complex with multiple spice notes. I can’t wait to see how this ages. (Same notes from when I purchased it! 😂) The #PoggioalCarro needs more time but is still beautiful. It ended up pairing very nicely with dessert - something I didn’t expect.

We did 2 side-by-side showdowns on #BrunellodiMontalcino this week - 2014 & 2020. The 2014 #Ridolfi Donna Rebecca paired beautifully with grilled meat. The CDB was less complex and offers itself up as a nice, summer Brunello. The 2020s are completely different.

17 year old and 21 year old Brunello respectively. Totally different and both excellent. Acquiring old vintages should be a side quest.

This vanilla orange blossom flan with an Alsatian Gewurztraminer is magic. 🫣🤤 Will definitely be bringing it to the remainder of summer wine dinners! 🍊🍮

This plays well above its age. Complex. Rich. Brooding. Elegant. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. The 2020 Brunello is FASCINATING. It’s all about the winemaker.

This 2020 Brunello reaches far beyond its age. It shows beautifully and now I’m intrigued to try the older vintages. Drink or hold. It shows promise for both.

After the 2019 vintage, we “decided” to wait for vintages to have a little more weight on them before drinking. And then I met the 2020 vintages… and I decided that I didn’t need to wait for everything to be perfect.
