@ninaturner Every govt employee who loses their job is a 2x win for the economy. First, they stop being a drain on the productive part of the economy. Second, they get a job in the productive part of the economy and start contributing to it.

@middle_class_us Jobs don't exist to support families. A job is an offering by an employer to trade money for value. Time is often used as a proxy for value, but an employer is under no moral obligation to provide an employee with a certain amount of money in exchange for the employee's time

These two things can be true at the same time: 1. Venezuela is better off without Maduro. 2. It was wrong for Trump to do what he did in Venezuela.

It’s almost been 24 hours and not a single Corporate Media outlet has had anything to say about this. Funny how that works.

The total household wealth of US households, excluding billionaires, is around $160T, vs $7T for billionaires. Is the "one-time wealth tax" designed to fix the US economy, or prepare Americans for an ongoing middle-class wealth tax?

The total assets held by billionaires in the US today is generously estimated at $7T. A one-time 5% confiscation of that wealth = $350B. That wouldn't even cover half a year of interest on the national debt.

I'm not against a billionaire wealth tax because I think I'll be a billionaire someday. I'm against it because I know from history that whatever tax govt is allowed to collect from a rich person it will eventually collect from everyone.

@adammocklerr It's a tough one, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the people who are stealing are the ones harming society, rather than the guy who offers products people buy voluntarily.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given” (Isaiah 9:6). On this sacred day, may we remember that perfect babe cradled in a manger. He is the reason we rejoice, celebrate, and give gifts today. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is the gift.

Why would someone respond to someone, then immediately block them so they can't respond back? What does that say about @MadeOfMonsters' confidence in their position?

It's amazing how little it takes to get some people to block you. Apparently this reply was too much for @420GHz.
