There is a lot of talk around what we should be doing and what we need in scientific publishing. Most groups don’t do anything though. Or at least nothing real. @eLife actually doing things is rare, valuable, and they are doing it in the face of a lot of pushback.

“Drive by citations” getting called out at Royal Society conference. @Scite recognizes that not all citations are the same and breaks them down into supporting or contrasting citations also showing which part of the paper they are from (intro methods etc).

Growing up in CA, naturally some of my best friends are the kids of immigrants, specifically from Mexico. They have gone on to become business leaders, professors, and beyond accolades, they are genuinely good humans. We've gotten so far removed from grace and compassion. .

I know so much of what is posted on here is to generate rage and clicks and RTs. I don't engage with it because that is what they want. At the same time, doing nothing feels lazy on my end. .
