Fast forward to today — with the NERDC’s newly launched expanded curriculum, I see even more clearly how AI can ease teachers’ workloads and enhance classroom impact. So for #DataFestAfrica2025, I built Gojo — an AI assistant for Nigerian educators.

⚠️ 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫: This project is experimental and not financial advice. For serious investing, diversified ETFs and mutual funds managed by professionals remain the safest bet. If anything, Hedgehog is merely an experiment borne out of my passion for data storytelling.

The app then scores each of the stocks using the algorithim. Stocks with scores > 70 are categorised as undervalued. The result is a simple interface that shows NGX stocks worth watching. 🛠️ Tech Stack: FastAPI (scraping service) · Postgres (database) · Next.js (full stack)

The algorithm evaluates stocks on 3 criteria: 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 – stocks with ≥50% 5-yr sales growth. 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 – low debt-to-equity and +ve cash flow. 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – attractive multiples (PEG < 1, PE < 20, or below sector averages).

So I built 𝐇𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐠 — a tool that: > Ethically scrapes NGX stock information > Ingests the data into a Postgres database > Applies a custom algorithm to identify undervalued stocks

However, getting programmatic access to Nigerian Exchange (NGX) stock data is not easy. Most widely used APIs (like TradingView) don’t provide NGX coverage, and the NGX’s own API comes with costs that I cannot afford.
