People know the screaming, howling, freak Flair promos, of course. But this very somber, lowkey interview with Gordon Solie before the Funk Bash match is not only the total opposite of that energy, but also a really strong babyface promo. The range of performance he achieved.

He obviously talks up that fact regularly and it's part of his legacy, but genuinely don't think any wrestler ever had suits tailored to fit him and look quite as good in it as Flair did. Lean build and the suits fall on him exactly right.

I've talked before about "Mask Off" Flair, Morton really, really got that out of him. Fucking psychotic heel performances from Flair in these matches: fully RAKING eyes, fishhooking, just explicitly trying to disfigure the challenger.

I think something people really gravitate to when watching old wrestling is just how fucking LOUD these crowds were. Not just loud, but reactive, fully bought in, living and dying by their heroes.

Today's Game Changer is an all-timer. One of those "platanoic ideals" of the format. Both an excellent game, a hilarious panel, BRILLIANT twists and turns, and even playing on themes that the show's been working at for a couple seasons now. Loved it so much.
