Well it's 5:15 on #WorldReadAloudDay and my wifi just went down...we broke the Internet with so many joyful book-filled virtual visits! 😂🎉 Thanks to all the #teachers and #librarians who set aside time to celebrate reading. I already can't wait for next year! 💙📚

I've been sitting with the news that Scholastic is self-censoring their Book Fairs since Tuesday. On Thursday I was invited to speak at a Scholastic Graphix party, and this is what I said. It's an earnest plea for the company with whom I have made so many books to do better.

The thing I keep coming back to is that: I understand if a librarian needs to separate out certain books because displaying them will put them in danger. I really, really do. But I fundamentally don't think that is a call the publisher should be making for them.
