@ben_guggenheim House GOP also believed, and were told by leadership, that Senate would soften their Medicaid language, which helped nervous mods get on board. The exact opposite happened -- even as Johnson tried to reassure members last week that the Senate would make changes before passage.

Thune indicates to me trying to win over a Rand was an option on the table as they tried to shore up the votes: . "We had multiple strategies in place" . (Rand ended up voting no and they got Murk).

Senate bill has sparked a lot of heartburn on House side, where Johnson and Trump will need to muscle it through . Senate bill also made round of changes in final hours of negotiations in order to shore up the votes . Does he have the votes? "Let's hope so".

News: Thune tells me he hasn't spoken to speaker in last 12 hours as he's made final changes (hes been a little busy). But they've been in close contact throughout process.

Republicans think Senate conservatives are dropping their push for an FMAP amendment vote. The amendment was expected to fall short -- no word from RonJon/Rick Scott yet.

Vice President JD Vance is on his way to the Capitol as Senate GOP tries to get OBBB across finish line after a long night. Leaders still actively working Murk, who they would prefer to get over bending to Rand on debt ceiling.
