Damn those cheap servos. Glad one broke on the test bench. Would definitely crashed the whole plane. Why the reliable ones are so damn expensive?.

Finally some time to do continue building my hobby uav projects. Received tf luna range sensor and air speed sensor. Installing these to the Scout EDF to get fully automatic functionalities. E.g. automatic takeoff and landing (probably crashes).

Experimenting with 3D printed din-rails for mounting hardware inside UAV fuselage. Very nice and clever system, however maybe not the best option for fixed wings. Adds weight and not necessarily the most vibration resistant. #3DPrinting #UAV #FixedWing

Thinking of trying to get the Grounding DINO model up and running and see how that would perform and work by sending small prompt e.g. “search person in a red jacket” via mavlink telemetry statustext.

I did manage to get the VILA1.5-3b model working and to describe the video stream realtime, which was cool, but not quite what I’m targeting for.

Couldn’t get the gemma 3n e2b model working. Ended up with different errors that I tackled one by one, but eventually had to call it for the day.

I need more hours in a day. Learning Nvidia robotics tools and libraries is very rewarding. Next task is to build the realtime vision properly using deepstream + ROS2 + Yolo (or Unidrone).

This thing is so cool. To see the telemetry popup automatically on a dashboard when you power up the plane. Everything persisted in the cloud real time and can be analyzed later. Next level observability and definitely over engineered hobby project 😅.

Finally had the time to properly configure the nvidia jetson orin nano. Installed an nvme ssd and did the recommended optimizations. So it should be now ready for some fixed wing related AI applications.

Telegraf in Termux was pain to setup. Even #chatgpt o3 wasn’t helpful and eventually started hallucinating. What actually resolved the issue was an old #stackoverflow post that I found using google. Lol.
