And finally tectonic/volcanic activity. The recent volcanic activity near Grindavik, the splitting of the Eurasian and North American plates, the geothermal activity at Geysir, and a very special visit to Heimaey; it was amazing to see the power of the Earth in action!

Wouldn't be Ice-land without some glacial action! Visited valley glaciers of Vatnajökull, Jökulsárlón with its glistening icebergs, and of course Sólheimajökull which I was introduced to at university. Amazing how far it's retreated in the decade since I first visited.

What an amazing week in #Iceland! The geography of this country never ceases to amaze me, with incredible waterfalls, glaciers, and tectonic activity on display. Waterfalls first with mascot Alan the Avocado pictured at Kirkjufellsfossar, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, and Gulfoss.

We welcomed our guests from Slovenia today to BCS. First off was a walk through Grinlow Woods to see the sights from a very windy Solomon's Temple. Then we delved underground to explore Poole's Cavern. We hope they enjoy their visit! #lovelearninglovelife @embarkfed @BCA1967

Year 9 students showed off creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills in a #STEM workshop this week. Challenged to create rollercoasters, they created some very impressive structures! Thanks to @TheEDTUK, @TarmacLtd, and all staff involved. #lovelearninglovelife

Well done to Yr 11 Geographers who were a credit whilst out investigating whether Manchester fits the Burgess Model or not. They deserved their shopping spree at the Trafford Centre after! Thanks to all staff for running this trip. #lovelearninglovelife #Geography #fieldwork

Great to visit some of my old fieldwork haunts with my students yesterday. We had some great chats about moss and favourite trees! Chippy lunch in Betws-y-Coed was a nice bonus! #geography #geographyteacher #fieldwork

Really impressed with how well year 13 put into practice their knowledge of changing places yesterday. Being able to collect and analyse data on our phones was also really handy, fingers crossed some students use this in their NEAS. @esriuk #teachwithGIS #geography #fieldwork

Yesterday, yr13 geographers investigated rural regeneration in both Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llanberis. Students also got to grips with using GIS for data collection and analysis, as well as getting a bonus exploration of Conwy. #lovelearninglovelife #fieldwork #geography

Was a great first fieldtrip of the year, and a massive thank you to the @BCS_PTA who supplied some new equipment for us to use! It was fantastic to see students putting classroom based learning of both fieldwork and river processes into practice. #fieldwork #Geography

Year 11 geographers were excellent today, persevering through rain to collect data for their GCSEs, measuring the River Goyt in its upper course. Clearly the promise of cake or chips in Whaley Bridge was a good motivator! #fieldwork #Geography #lovelearninglovelife

We can't wait to see how our adventurers react to the PTAs' generous donation. We can't believe the number of figures, dice, and stories the group now has. We look forward to hearing their tales in the future. #dungeonsanddragons @BCS_PTA
