The May jobs report shows that hiring is cooling off and there were big revisions to the last couple months. With the newest updates, April was revised down to 147,000 and March was revised down to 120,000. Total of 95,000 fewer jobs than initially reported per @BLS_gov.

The May jobs report beats expectations slightly at 139,000 and unemployment holds steady at 4.2%. Jobs were added in health care (+62,000), leisure and hospitality (+48,000 mostly at restaurants and bars), and social assistance (+16,000). Federal government lost 22,000 jobs.

McMillon laid it out how $WMT will tackle this but first said: “We will do our best our prices as low as possible but given the magnitude of tariffs, even at reduced levels announced this week, we aren’t able to absorb all the pressure given the reality of narrow retail margins”.

Near the top of the audio-only call, $WMT CEO McMillon thanked President Trump and Sec. Bessent but later on made the realities clear: “We can control what we can control…even at the reduced levels, the higher tariffs will result in higher prices.”.
