Alexandros Yannis @eu_eeas: We must have a "great issues" debate instead of "great power" debate, focused on technology, climate change, demographic issues eroding EU capacity. If the EU is strong on these issues, instead of worrying about being great power, it will get stronger.

@LisaMusiol: Even if the EU isn’t a great power, it has a role for stability at global level, it can have an impact in helping stability and solving crises. The EU doesn’t have to become a global power but can still be a global actor.

@HenryJFoy: People talk about EU as this geopolitical economic giant. Is that what the EU wants to play? China, US, Russia they didn’t “enlarge” as the EU did. The EU has to consider its mortality: how to react to threat and continue to grow?.

@NathalieTocci: The EU is in a better place than in the past, we understood how to deal and what we have to do, conceptually and strategically. We must find new ways for foreign policy that are more adjusted to the way the world is changing, without ditching our principles.

Alexandros Yannis, Head of Policy Planning and Strategic Foresight @eu_eeas: A first step for change is awareness of the different world we live in. It is important to adjust our own policies and tools to different views of what can be done.

@LisaMusiol, Head of EU Affairs @CrisisGroup:The EU is learning along the way; it has understood Ukraine will be a long war. There is still a lot to learn from failures of the past. In terms of EU foreign policy contestation from Global South: there the EU is really losing ground

@HenryJFoy, @ftbrussels Bureau Chief: We should stop being so critical of EU as international actor. It is not its job to respond quickly, but properly. Ukraine has shown EU foreign policy is working, if we give it enough time EU will be more crisis proof.

@NathalieTocci, Director @IAIonline: Foreign policy is shaped by context. There is a war in Europe and one in the Middle East and we aren't doing anything, we are divided, not using our leverages. The context has changed dramatically, so the progress we have made doesn’t count.
