If it’s legit national duals without PSU then rank the winner of this weekend 1st in the country. If you cant rank them 1st…whats the reason? Because it isn’t…a legit national championship…without the best team?
In making the point that "PSU should be there" everyone just delegitimized every event in the history of college wrestling other than NCAA's. well done, you pure oracles of light.

My point is if it’s THE national duals then yes them being too good to go delegitimizes it. If the best wrestler in freestyle laughed at RAF and said “I’m not wrestling at that” it would make the event seem unimportant. Especially if you considered the event the national champ.
I've explained it a gazillion times on shows the last 3 months but.... How does PSU not being there 'delegitimize' this event? follow up: are you saying every event other than NCAA's is not 'legitimate'? perhaps that's what's really wrong....that stance. was 2021 NCAA's not

Right now a dual meet is meaningless. If a team upsets someone…who cares? It has no post season implications. For the regular season to matter, the team trophy should be given dual champs at a national duals. I still like individual obviously, but the season needs to matter.
Hummm… I’m listening. Go on. Club vs Club? Dual “ tournaments” or meets?

If a team wins/losses a in season dual meet…can someone tell me what that means? Whats the point? How does it help their season? Whats the difference in just 20 guys wrestling and not keeping team score? The only way to make duals matter is national duals. (Preferably EOY)

It means NOTHING if you go undefeated team wise all season. Whats the point of a dual rn? Practice? There is no incentive for me to wrestle. Actually because the only thing the season does is seeds, it incentivizes me NOT to wrestle to protect my seed. The season is meaningless.
I understand you but my point is if you go undefeated and win all your duals it means very little in our sport. Except that you are very very good. You get nothing for winning all your duals (maybe a high ranking ). Make the national duals for a national championship and

Yes. The sport is more important than your team.
1. Is there another sport where coaches and fans complain about other teams' schedules in the name of "growing the sport?" 2. Is a coach supposed to compromise what he believes is best for his team's preparation in the name of growing the sport?

Season Jan-April. 2 duals per week for 2 months. Top 16 qualify for Nat Duals in March. 2 weeks later individual conference, followed by individual NCAAs (no team trophy here). Backups compete in preliminary matches before in season duals. Zero tournaments. A perfect season.

Minimizing peoples criticisms to “whining” is silly. It is absolutely valid to call out the largest brand in our sport for not participating in an event that is attempting to help push the sport forward.
@notawrestler_x @johnnidijulius Devalued is still a pretty big fucking insult to the teams that are there, and yes they are devaluing themselves if they whine about PSU not being there.

Wrestling shoots itself in the foot constantly. Kids become creative and get told to get in line. Celebrating gets told to act like you been there. New events (nat duals) gets told “it will never be as big as ncaas”. We are our own worst enemy.

And CKLV and Midlands would have more value if the bets team in the past decade was there. Things can still be good and also have more value if PSU attended. PSU isnt the only thing that matters. But its a talking point when they are stubborn to wrestling trying new things.
@johnnidijulius I pretty strongly disagree with calling the event devalued. They were never at CKLV or Midlands, either. PSU can't be the only thing that matters. If one team is all anyone cares about we don't actually have a sport at all

Penn State does not help progress wrestling. When everyone else is on board trying to push the sport forward (dual championships) we have our own people who are barriers to change. Yes it’s better for YOUR team to not compete but the sport is more important than your team.

It’s not about calling teams out for “ducking”. No one thinks PSU is scared. They’d win. Cool. The frustrating thing is whenever wrestling tries something new, the number one team in the country doesn’t support. Stubbornness holds wrestling back.
Why is anyone spending one breath on who isn't at NDI? Teams didn't go, guys are hurt, move on. It will be the best dual meet action we have seen in a decade

It should not be individual. It should be about the team. Individual makes it so we give zero meaning to the regular season.

Can someone explain a single reason for in season matches rn? Name one thing that matters if I win/lose during the season….seed? Stop it. If you lose in any other sport it harms you for post season. The only way to make regular season matter is a dual championships.

You mean you don’t enjoy 8 mats on a floor with fans having to bring blankets and picnic lunches from 9am-9pm? It was my understanding those types of things helped wrestling all season…
This needs to turn into a tournament with the national championship on the line. Duals need to Matter. Every sports fan can get behind a dual meet and their team/university and understand it.
