How a commentator can say “we don’t know Jarry but we’ll get to know him” is beyond ridiculous. 87 million people play tennis worldwide and this guy is the 28th best at it currently.

All good things come to an end.
After the upcoming Australian Summer I’ll be retiring from professional tennis.
I’m incredibly grateful for all the support I’ve had throughout my career.
It’s been a thrilling ride living out a dream I had as a kid. ❤️
I’m out with covid. I was just in the states and it didn’t really feel like too many were following any recommendations or guidelines there. Which is fine, but therefore I can’t see then why
@DjokerNole
can’t come and compete.
When I qualified at Wimbledon for the 1st time I asked for two extra ground passes so family could watch - I was told to line up in the queue. Money means everything there, if you’re going to ban athletes then also give all your profits in aid. Then we’d know you’re serious.
I feel like Ukraine would be better served if
@Wimbledon
donated their entire profit in support aid instead of banning the Russian and Belarusian players.
Andreas Seppi not getting a wildcard into a tour event in Italy to end his career is a joke. The guy has had a brilliant career, represented his country at Davis Cups and Olympic Games and the Italian Federation can’t give a WC? Pretty pathetic.
I’ve known Ash for a long time and she’s always been special. Winning a French Open title doesn’t confirm what we’ve always known. So happy for
@ashbar96
,
@CTyzzer
and her family for this.

Our women are incredible but bit of a lazy take...
@NickKyrgios
- more off court charity in tennis than anyone I know
@alexdeminaur
- one of the brightest young superstars yet for his age most humble guy I know
@jordanthommmo2
- massively hard worker
Shame about Ash Barty. But here’s a question. Why are women tennis players much, much nicer than the male of the species ?
(Not counting Margaret Court). The women seem to have their act together. The men tend to be dickheads, especially in Australia.
Thought of the day…
I could be covid positive and fly into the States, no questions asked because I’m vaccinated.
But someone who has recovered from covid, is now covid negative but hasn’t been vax’d is denied entry..
I know there are border laws but help me understand..
The ITIA delays in regards to Simona Halep’s case is a disgrace. One way or the other she shouldn’t be constantly mucked around like this. I’m a little surprised more on the WTA, admin and players, haven’t come out condemning the process. It’s been a joke.
Always feel lucky when I get the opportunity to hit with this guy... great to have him back. Even took the time to have a chat to my nephew which made Archie’s day.
@JudyMurray
you’ve done well. He’s a champ..
Too much attention on a team member mixing sports drinks.. a proper ridiculous notion that something is up, stadium full, cameras everywhere, drinks mixed in players box.. I mean use a little logic here, maybe just maybe they don’t want to give the edge to anyone.
What’s the end game with Covid in Australia? Genuinely curious. I feel even with a high vaccination rate covid will inevitably continue to exist. What do we do when everyone is vaccinated and there are still cases? Zero covid is impossible isn’t it?
Jim Courier is a pleasure to listen to in the commentary box. It’s an impressive skill to be knowledgeable, analytical, critical but at the same time delivering the message in an empathetic way. He’s able to break down the game impressively because of his meticulous preparation!
Can we settle this matter. I was laughed out the locker rooms here in Flushing Meadows when I said coffee in Australia is superior to coffee in Italy.. I genuinely thought it was common knowledge.
Ahhhhh… that’s why our sport’s oldest team competition now has a best of three format, no home and away matches and tie done and dusted in 5 hours.
Unfortunately haven’t seen the younger generation flock into the neutral venue just yet but it sure is seductive..!
#daviscup
It’s hard to understand unless you’ve walked in his shoes. For the entire match he’d have been trying to hold it together, trying not to give the crowd any more ammo to use. That’s a lot of built up emotion he’s letting out at the end there.
Well this was a very, very, VERY stupid idea from Fritz. What the well was he expecting when playing the last French standing in the tournament?
I’ll never understand players from a Slam country not being able to hold it together in an hostile atmosphere.
Okay... enough is enough. First match here in Oz for the Australian summer and current world number 31, who has been as high as 26, Filip Krajinović just got called a journeyman. Be better..
Thank you to everyone
@AstanaOpen
who made this tournament possible. You did a tremendous job. Incredibly happy to win my first ATP title in your tournament’s first edition. The Kazakhstan hospitality made this one very special. 🇰🇿 🇦🇺
Meant to hit with a high seed tmrw. That person cancelled today obviously due to there being no tournament on anymore. Informed practice I’d still use time and court as I’m still here. Practice desk said no I don’t get that time or court because I’m not a top player or past champ
What a load of tosh. I’m not getting into a GOAT debate. RF, RN, ND have all taken the game to another level. But to dismiss an achievement based on someone having a physical advantage of being a “rubber man” enters into the abyss of ridiculousness.
That was some incredible tennis from both teams. The Great Britain team were brilliant. A flip of the coin at the end. How good were
@NickKyrgios
and
@alexdeminaur

Twitter is full of people having all types of opinions on different matters but when an athlete has an opinion on something that is not to do with their sport they are told to “stick to your sport”..
When you see the host nation playing in these Davis Cup ties and the energy and engagement of the crowd it’s pretty obvious.. Davis Cup needs home and away ties. Davis Cup is and always will be about the fans. The fans who love the game and love their country.
Hey
@daviscup
Quick question. Was wondering when the players vote is for the Davis Cup changed format is.
Haven’t received the memo yet.
Cheers 👋

Coaching from the sidelines adds zero to the product. Even more distracting watching the coaching on TV. Players should always have been left to figure it out themselves once they entered the arena..
#usopen
I’ve played three and hit with another. One takeaway each from remaining men’s semi finalists.
Novak - unrivalled change of direction, it’s like you’re doing butterfly drill with him.
Alcaraz - time on forehand, cya later
Medvedev - no free points
Sinner - pure ball striker
First impressions of the US Open series are really positive. It’s noticeable how hard the USTA has worked to create a comfortable and safe environment. I’m pumped to be back playing. Top effort from the entire USTA team.
Having hit with the AO 2023 Dunlop balls the last week my general observation is they are light and quick, especially when new. Not the easiest to control initially even in the humid conditions where I am in Brisbane. NK, Hurkacz, Fritz all very dangerous this AO 💥💥
Hats off to
@ashbar96
for her great run. She best quality players all the way to the final. Then
@alexdeminaur
goes and gets his first title. So good from those two.
If the concern is to help players ranked 250-700 in the world why has it taken a global pandemic to realize this? Surely over the many years of top end heavy prizemoney increases we maybe should have maybe distributed the spread a little more... 🤷♂️🤷♂️?
To add to that, inside a locker room you see a players team always making drinks, in unmarked bottles and put in the fridge. Training programs, supplement intake etc is trade secret.
When you’re at a tournament and your bag of washing comes back with a bill for 194.50 euros you resign yourself to turning your undies inside out to get the most wear out of them moving forward 😂
Let me be clear. If everyone in the country was following guidelines then I’m all for them enforcing a vax entry policy. But from what I saw pretty much no one was, the tournament allows non vax citizens to play and only 30% have had a booster..
I’m out with covid. I was just in the states and it didn’t really feel like too many were following any recommendations or guidelines there. Which is fine, but therefore I can’t see then why
@DjokerNole
can’t come and compete.
It’s pretty simple. When you do whatever it takes to become Prime Minister there are sacrifices that you’ll have to make when that becomes a reality. One of those is that you can’t go on a holiday when your country is in a crisis and its people are hurting.
Simona is in tennis purgatory due to constant delays in proceedings from the ITIA. Her colleagues should have her back and broadcast it in the public forum. Allowing her a proper and fair hearing. If you walked in her shoes you’d at least want that. Regardless of the findings.
Let’s give tennis back to the people. ITF has an opportunity to reignite one of sport’s oldest team competitions. Change the format, find a compromise with players schedules, bring back more home and away ties (especially in latter stages)
The sport will always be for the fans.
I think that
@jamie_murray
has done well here. The
@BattleofTheBrit
has got great players competing in an environment that is following strict health and safety guidelines in what is a refreshing scoring format.
Now that I’m home I’m figuring out all the little things that annoy me. Hard butter is at the top of that list. How do you properly spread that on toast?
A few people have asked... here’s the team. Gurley off the board so I took Bell over DJ 🙈🙈... Bell’s handcuff pinched from me though... 12 team standard league
@ESPNFantasy
Quite easy to sit on the sofa and be critical of a players form. There’s so much abuse players face, especially online. Yet those abusing have no idea, nor care, for what potentially a person is going through - whether that be physically or mentally. Hope Shuai is alright.
Zhang Shuai could not speak for sobbing in the press conference with Chinese media. Didn't play Toyko Olympics and had big conflicts with Chinese Tennis Federation. Under tremendous pressure and mentally exhausted after almost three years without coming back to China...
Shame about Ash Barty. But here’s a question. Why are women tennis players much, much nicer than the male of the species ?

This one to the tennis fans. Why are there some fans out there who can’t appreciate the big three in their entirety? Instead they have their favourite and go ahead and attack the other two? I’m genuinely interested as to why this is the case?
Whoever was responsible at the ITF for the complete failure of the Davis Cup experiment shouldn’t be in their roles anymore. Absolute disaster-class. Davis Cup was always a competition for the fans. Taking tennis to all parts of the world so people could watch in their backyard.
@dthomson42
The worst decision was actually to hit a ball anywhere near the direction of an official. A direct hit, hard or not, intentional or not, will most likely lead to a default. As a player you know from when you first start playing tennis. The lines person is not in the wrong here.
Woke up feeling a little sorry for myself on day 6 of hotel quarantine... that is until I reminded myself that some refugees have been doing this for years...

🤔 Patrick Mouratoglou says many players don’t currently consider the Olympics to be important:
“There is no real connection between tennis and the Olympic Games.
A lot of players don’t feel that it’s an important event.”

Hey Guys, for every six I hit in this years Big Bash League I will donate $250 towards the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. It is special to see so many athletes from various sports getting in behind the real heroes who are fighting to save lives and properties around our country 🙏
How do you think a tennis player, backed by a billionaire, would fare wanting to change the whole format of football’s meager 63 year old Champions League competition? Including no home and away fixtures, WC teams, etc. It’s crazy 🤯😂

What a time to be alive! Drop my iPhone in the ice bath. Make two attempts to catch it. Retrieve it. Expecting the worst. The little thing is working even better than before! It’s the little things... ❄️ 🛀 📱 💦 👌😅
Tennis in Australia outside of the AO can sometimes fly under the radar. Tonight is a massive night for the Australian women when they battle it out against the 🇨🇭in the finals - good luck! Hope plenty stay up to cheer them on.
"We sincerely apologise to all the players and fans who expect more of the Mutua Madrid Open tournament. Not giving our women’s doubles finalists the chance to address their fans at the end of the match was unacceptable and we have apologised directly to Victoria, Beatriz… (1/2)
But... Consecutive surgeries, never been inside 100, told he couldn’t play on hardcourt, no money in bank when making a comeback, no money with endorsements coming in while injured..literally starting from scratch. There’s no one out there that deserves it more than Jason Kubler
Players don’t get invited to masters events.. it’s a mandatory event. Compulsory to play, if they don’t they get fined. It’s how masters get big tv and endorsement deals.. players forced to play even when the females have had to put up with misogynist behaviour for years here.
@johnhmillman
Proper respect? Shouldn’t the player show some respect too n maybe refrain from criticising the event they got invited to, until at least it’s finished. If u got invited to a bday party, would u criticise the cake in social media while ur drinking wine n still in it?
I’ve been asked how it is possible to “miss a test”.
You have to submit your whereabouts for an hour a day, every day of the year.
Initial submission is made in three month blocks.
The tour is liquid. You are constantly changing travel plans, flight delays, missed flights etc
Huge congratulations to
@jordanthommmo2
- competes every time he steps on the court. Had some massive scalps this week to lift his first singles title in Los Cabos. Started the year on fire. 🔥🔥
I’ve heard lots of complaints about the US Open. Some, I think could be warranted but on the whole considering it was the first tournament back, it was a decent return to tennis. I’m concerned if we’re complaining now what happens when we get into the European season..
Calling on all Brisbanites to get to Pat Rafter Arena Arena from Friday - Sunday as we take on the Germans in
@DavisCup
- Would love your support, tickets can be purchased at Ticketek. The boys are ready to go!
I saw this post from Aryna and completely agree. It’s not acceptable especially at WTA finals.
But I also might add that this a common occurrence week to week for non seeded players in ATP events, challenger events and I’m sure WTA events.
It’s an uneven playing field each week.
Tony Roche - In my opinion no one has done more for tennis in this country. He doesn’t do anything for personal accolades yet courts, halls and trophies nationwide should be named after him. In a week of highlights being able to work with you is right at the top.

When I think of the the world’s best cities places like Bordeaux, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Budapest and Melbourne spring to mind but to me they are all playing second fiddle to Brisbane! 😍🤭
Was watching the WTA event in Thailand. I’ve used medical timeouts a couple of times before as a necessity but would be totally for getting rid of them completely. Too many times it’s abused.
