Absolutely gutted to hear that my ex QPR team mate Micheal Robinson has passed away today. Robbo was my room mate on away trips and was such a nice guy. He was a brilliant story teller as well as a top player. RIP my friend x❤️
RIP Stan Bowles. Skill, flair, flamboyance and a real character on and off the pitch. Proud to say I played in his testimonial game and to be on the same pitch as him was such a great honour. Another of the great mavericks lost. X
Extremely saddened to hear that Viv Busby has passed away today. I learnt so much from him when he came to York City he changed the course of my career. A brilliantly kind funny man.
RIP Buzza thanks for everything. X
Good luck to my old teams Sunderland and York City today in their play off finals . Come on boys let’s have brilliant win double. Great to see a big shout out on 5 minutes for John Macphail a great team mate and servant to both clubs. Get well soon Monty x
Extremely sad to hear that the great Jack Charlton has passed away. I can’t thank him enough for selecting me for the Ireland squads in those brilliant days of the euros and the World Cup in 88 and 90 taking me to places I could only have dreamt of as a kid. RIP Big Jack x
Very sad to hear my old QPR manager Jim Smith has passed away. A great character with a great sense of fun but also an honest and very astute manager. Thanks for all your help and advice Jim. RIP.
Brilliant night for QPR and their loyal fans. What a fantastic job Martí Cifuentes has done since he came in. Hopefully they can really push at the other end of the league next season.
Massive day in the North East today. I can feel the tension down here in Brighton. Let’s hope it’s the beginning of another amazing cup run and what a way it would be to start it by beating the Mags.

Saddened to hear the news that the great Terry Venables has passed away. He had already left when I joined QPR but the lads who played under him spoke so highly of him as a coach and as a man that he left an indelible mark on all of them. RIP Terry
Good luck to Adam Hinshelwood today in his first game as York City manager. Comes from a brilliant footballing family. His uncle Martin was my coach at BHA. He’s a great lad and a brilliant coach and I sincerely hope he smashes it at YCFC.
Great to see my old QPR teammate Gavin Maguire this afternoon. I haven’t seen him for 30 years. It felt like yesterday. Happy birthday Gav great to see you pal.
I am looking daily to try and find out when the last game will be at Bootham Crescent. Like a lot of us ex players the ground means so much to us like it does to all the fans. I’m determined to be there on the last day officially or unofficially I don’t care. Too many memories.
I Miss the excitement of the first day of the season. Pre season in the bag just the hope of a good start and a successful Season ahead. Good luck York City, QPR, Le Havre, Brighton, Sunderland, Milwall and Oxford United. Come on boys let’s do this

RIP Frank Sibley QPR stalwart. He was brilliant for me when I signed from York City helping me to settle in and giving me the confidence to believe in myself. Thank you Frank. Sleep well. X
Brilliant to see Adam Hinshelwood keep My old club York City up in the National League. Hopefully this is the catalyst to start the climb back into the football league where this club belongs .
Loved the road to Turin programme
Great memories from an amazing World Cup. Even though I didn’t get any game time I feel so privileged to have been part of something so special.

I couldn’t see much wrong with Maupays challenge. As an ex striker I think we’ve all done that in the past without malice. Unfortunate that he landed badly. I’ve had keepers clatter in to me many a time after I’ve played the ball. Part of the game. Hope Leno recovers soon.
Football will never be the same until you get fans back in the stadiums. Anyone whoever played will tell you a behind closed door friendly is nothing like playing in front of a passionate crowd.

Well done Sunderland. Strange to be playing in the 1st round but last time we played them In the 3rd round and won we got to the final. Just saying.

After playing in an FA Cup semi with Sunderland I’m with this lot today to watch Brighton V Man City. I think they are going to need a miracle but it’s the FA cup. You never know
Sad to hear Peter Lorimer has passed away. He came to York City when I was a young lad and I was totally in awe to play with such a legend of the game. Quality man and a quality player. RIP Peter.
Extremely saddened to hear of the death of my ex York City team mate Sean Haslegrave. Great player and also a lovely man. Thanks for all the support and advice when I was a young lad Sean RIP. X
I love this stage of the FA cup. Magical moments for teams and players from lower divisions. It’s just brilliant isn’t it. The anticipation of the draw for the next round and the hope of a big team in the next round. You never know you might end up in the final
Really excited to be going back to Loftus Rd today to see two of my favourite teams QPR v Manchester United. That’s going to stir up some great memories.
Great attacking display from Brighton today. Long time since I’ve seen that. Trossard was quality. Bit better finishing would have sewn it up. Very impressed with Dan Burn as well.
Well done Brighton deserved that tonight. So pleased for Chris Hughton. One of the nicest guys you could wish to meet. Hope united were saving it for the final. Lazy performance.

Great to be back in York this weekend to see York city win 4-2 in their new stadium. Then thanks to
@YorkShamrocksFC
@YorkIrish
for inviting me to talk about my York and Ireland football career. Thanks
@ellyfyork
for hosting and keeping me calm. Lovely to see so many old faces.
Congratulations Harrogate Town absolutely brilliant. That used to be a pre season friendly against a smaller club when I was at York City FC who are now in the National North.

Great to see Brighton showing more attacking intent in the last two games. 4 points from Arsenal and Everton is a good return. Pleased for Locardia. Any player needs a sustained run in a side to get the best out of them.

I didn’t know Justin Edinburgh but I feel really saddened by his sudden passing. You only have to see the tweets from his colleagues to see he was held in high esteem. RIP Justin.
Well that was tense. I was the king of the shit penalties. Took 5 in my career missed 4 and the one that went in bobbled in off the post.

Extremely Saddened to hear the news that my former Ireland team mate Alan McLoughlin has passed away. A lovely lovely lad and a top player. Thoughts are with his family tonight. X
Brilliant to take my old Le Havre team Mate Marcel Levasseur to a premier league game at Brighton yesterday. 0-0 but he loved the atmosphere at an English game.
Extremely saddened to hear the news this morning that my ex Oxford United team mate Micky Lewis had passed away. Genuinely was one of the nicest lads I’ve ever played with. Everyone who met him loved Lewie. Sleep well pal ❤️
RIP Sir Bobby. One of my 1st heroes aged 7 along with Denis and George. A sad day for Manchester United and football in general. One of the true greats x
Thanks for all the birthday messages everyone. Pleased I share it with one of my favourite players long before I met him. Simon Stainrod
