Happy 94th birthday to James Whale’s “Frankenstein,” which was released on this day back in 1931. I appreciate many other adaptations of Mary Shelly’s story but for me Boris Karloff will always be “The Monster.” That’s what comes from growing up a “Universal Monster Kid.”

You voted Terrifier as your favorite house of HHN 2025 at USH. I’ll let you in on a little secret, Monstruos 3 almost beat it. They were neck and neck for most of the event. That’s pretty amazing for an original house so huge props to that cast (and all our scareactors!) Kudos!

FYI - just finished the treatment for house #3 for HHN 2026 at USH. It came in at a stout 110 pages. Trying to do some things in this house we’ve never done before. Will be interesting to see how it turns out! #HorrorNeverSleeps

After doing this for 20 years, each closing night becomes one step closer to that inevitable final curtain call. You definitely learn to appreciate nights like tonight and what it’s meant to have had the great privilege of bringing horror back to the studio that invented it!

I think almost everyone can agree that this year has been one for the ages. Sometimes everything just lines up but nothing is automatic. It’s all the result of the hard work, dedication & passion that everyone who works on HHN brings to this event.

Every year, the dark carnival we call HHN rolls into town at the beginning of The Fall & pitches its tent in the place where the American horror movie was born. Tonight is the final show. Tomorrow, we vanish back into the fog to hibernate for another year.

Weird stuff you see on the road to Dublin. These are normally statues or musicians and dancers but during Halloween they become witches, skeletons and aliens. The cars should give you a sense of their scale.

I’ve begun the long journey back to LA to close out HHN 2025. 4 hour bus ride to Dublin for a 10 hour flight to LA. Arrive with jet lag from the 8 hour time difference late Friday and then back in action at HHN Saturday night. Mi vida loca! PS. Finished outline for house #3
