In today’s budget, PM Mark Carney will exploit failure to resolve the trade crisis with the US to justify massive public spending & government intrusion that will undermine economic growth & prosperity. @financialpost

Albertans are patriotic Canadians but 2 flashpoints could create a fateful turning point: stymied oil & gas pipeline projects & judicial limitation on notwithstanding clause. @financialpost

I am deeply sorry about the sudden passing of Nigel Wright. He was an exceptionally bright, accomplished, insightful, warm and giving person who contributed greatly to Canada and the conservative movement. He will be widely missed.

The long delayed federal budget will likely produce a deficit exceeding $80 billion. But will it address the challenges of a declining std of living, blocked resource dev, high youth unemployment, capital flight & unaffordable housing? @financialpost

Mark Carney is enjoying honeymoon poll numbers, but storm clouds are gathering due to lack of progress on trade compared to other countries and a weakening economy, attributable  in large part to his policy choices. @financialpost

The key question for the Canadian economy is whether Mark Carney’s sudden enthusiasm for resource development reflects political expediency or a sincere intent to push projects forward. @financialpost

Mark Carney capitulated to @realDonaldTrump by withdrawing the digital services tax which is not in Canada’s national interest. Neither is supply management. Both will be major irritants in trade negotiations with the U.S. @financialpost

Mark Carney’s sudden enthusiasm for natural resources reflects long-term Conservative policy - but was Liberal heresy until very recently. What does the 180 reversal say about his values & can it be trusted? @financialpost

Let’s hope @MarkJCarney justifies the minority mandate he won by differentiating himself from his predecessor many of whose policies he supports, including profligate spending, big gov’t intervention & climate alarmism. @financialpost

President Trump undermined trust in Canada-US relationship but hasn’t altered fundamentals of geography, integrated economies & shared values. A tough response requires a resilient economy not visible in @MarkJCarney platform. @financialpost

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Canada’s last balanced budget I was honoured to present on behalf of @stephenharper government. @MarkJCarney profligate fiscal platform promises $130 billion higher Liberal deficits than previously forecast.

Marks Carney is a high tax big spender hostile to resource dev, compromised by conflicts of interests & entranced by China. 4th Liberal term would mean same dysfunctional policies that inflicted a lost decade on long-suffering Canadians. @financialpost https://t.co/BDxQzF51dQ

Canada needs transformative change, esp natural resource dev, to confront @realDonaldTrump tariffs during a period of ec decline. @MarkJCarney who is committed to Net Zero will continue Trudeau’s policies that produced to a lost decade. @financialpost

Canada should respond to Trump’s tariff threats (1) by immediately addressing porous border, inadequate military spending & supply mgt. (2) reducing vulnerability to capricious treatment by building ec resilience & improving productivity. @financialpost

Re threatened tariffs, Canada needs to respond quickly to reasonable demands in our national interest & explain how beneficial trade with Canada is to the U.S. Targeted retaliation is a last resort. @nationalpost
