I love how jury selection can be like “This case involves a train - what is your experience with trains?” “My husband, who works remotely doing IT, put a train around the Christmas tree” Then the judge and both lawyers in unison: “Absolutely not.”

Whenever I’m worried if I’ll grow Boomer tendencies I remember that during my parents’ Solitaire on Windows phase my brother and I were playing Melee and when we were their age we were playing Ultimate with his kids.

Being exposed to others’ memories of what games were in arcades and on Genesis reminds me how no one really talks about how the mishandled Sega US (why was Sonic Team not entirely in SF from 92-onwards‽) is the real mantle of responsibility inherited by Xbox

It’s proven to be a wide ranging super power once you’re in a big enough org - “sure, just show me the vaguest hint that this has a paper trail through approved purchasing procedure” basically causes immediate diarrhea if you can’t

I’m in the somewhat fortunate position to discourage unnecessary AI use by asking for either asset number in a licensed catalog or the raw illustrator/etc files from the vendor artist before I let something onto the internet under one of our domains and it’s been effective.

Like I’ve never had to “hold my tongue” to not make a “my horrible spouse” joke at work or parties or whatever to not contaminate the Zoomerimos or younger, the only “joke” I have is “I also love my cat and use similar adjectives to be ambiguous as a bit”.

I love how many wife-guys I know, not just in my immediate circle. It almost feels generational - like we grew up with boomer “I hate my spouse” sitcoms, were derided by them for properly shopping around in the aughts, and had cute little recession-era weddings.

My generation’s trauma is having a dormant skillset for piloting starfighters with a controller that’s vigilantly listening for a heavily compressed Admiral Ackbar or Peppy Hare to tell us to take evasive action

Academia is great because when someone “needs to talk to” you it’s literally always “I or a member of our shared universe has encountered a life update that is going to drastically increase your workload indefinitely regardless of seemingly temporary nature”

I rewatched TWD seasons 1 and 2 and just made myself angry that shows used to be able to execute show vs tell and coming up with the production schedule after writing has occurred instead of separating characters to pay actors less driving the script

I am once again asking if you’ve ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise

My meeting specific super power is saying that comes down to “we could automate [giant thing] if this one char(8) field had actual data in it” and watching one person grin and one person grimace in perfectly choreographed slow motion symmetry

A funny thing about all the identity flags coming out of millennial consensus is that the nonbinary and bi flags especially lean heavily toward “my bedroom was these colors”.

Still wish for an alternate history where we normalize SVG with base64 blobs for pixel data as the standard image format so filters, crops, text, and attribution only ever exist in the vector layers
