UNACCEPTABLE—Reports from students at Mississippi State are that people who were at bars in the Starkville area were told to LEAVE rather than seek shelter during this evening’s tornado warning, putting people in danger as they walked away or tried to drive.

NO CANCER! Mom’s biopsy results are in... And the “nice sized” mass found in last week’s mammogram proved to be BENIGN! God is so good to us.. Thanks to all of you who offered up thoughts and prayers as we anxiously awaited those lab results. Here’s to many more good reports!
JUST STAND STILL: Halfway through my forecast, a wasp lands on my chest... It didn’t sting me, but it ruined my train of thought.
I’m not sure if I was scared of getting stung... Or how I would react if it had stung me on live TV. 😨

Easily the most incredible (and probably most dangerous) shot of lightning I’ve ever seen... So close you can see the small branches coming off the edges toward the base. Amazing!

Three became four... And today, four becomes more! I’m excited to announce that after months of praying and exploring my options, my 4-year anniversary here at

is NOT my last day. I have decided to stay right here in my stomping grounds!

So last night... A man showed up at my parents’ house trying to sell them this “tray of shot glasses for elegant parties.”
Upon realizing it was a communion tray & that my dad is a preacher—He left it behind.
Has your church been robbed? If so, we may have your communion tray.
While everyone keeps making COVID-19 a political issue... One of my best friends is on Day 13 of a terrible case right now. After going almost two days with no fever, it has spiked again. He’s 31, in shape and has no pre-existing health issues.
Please pray for him. And be safe.
Mississippians: Only in Mississippi can you go from summer to winter in 12 hours!
Alabamians: Only in Alabama can you go from summer to winter in 12 hours!
Texans: Only in Texas can you go from summer to winter in 12 hours!
Arkansans: Only in Arkansa...
You get my point.
I just wanna know if we will be able to vote for our next state license plate design... Because I still think this one looks like it’s covered in dirt from driving down a gravel road. 😑
I sometimes shy away from showing models beyond 7 days out... I know it can be beneficial to have the extra heads up. But I also know that snow is a touchy subject, so I don't wanna disappoint.
That said, next Monday is now in the 7-day and the Euro is doubling down. At one…
Everyone should watch this clip of

Ugh, this is why I rarely mention my husband on air… But I shouldn’t let my fear of hateful emails stop me from living my life out loud.
So if you ever feel the need to send me an email like this. Don’t waste your time. 🙄
Viewer response to me saying my husband sent me a picture of a rainbow after the storms.
It’s been a minute since I’ve gotten an email like this. Good on ya Minnesota.
I’ll forever wear our love as a badge of honor, and try and spread it when I can—even with this gentleman.
So my niece and nephew are being let out of school early to ride busses home DURING a severe t’storm warning..
Administrators… Please. IF you’re gonna dismiss, do well it in advance of the storm. NOT during.

I didn’t come to cheer. Nor did I come to protest... I came for one reason: To witness history. Tonight, for the first time in 84 years, the President of the USA made a visit to Tupelo! I can scratch this one off my bucket list: I saw a sitting president speak in person!
(1/2) - North Mississippi lost a legend this evening... I grew up watching Dick Rice do the weather on
@wtva9news
. He has been an inspiration for most of my life—a role model growing up and a mentor as a professional. It was such a privilege to be a part of his life!
Today, Mississippi reported 1,032 new COVID-19 cases.
States that reported less than us:
New York: 695
New Jersey: 112
Pennsylvania: 387
Michigan: 754
Washington: 44
All of these were once major hot spots. Stop pretending it’s not affecting rural America the same way. It is.

First off... Do you work for Jeopardy? How do you know it’s the wrong episode? Also, I’m a meteorologist. I’m flattered that you think I have this much control here at WTVA... But I don’t. 😂
Y’all. I hate COVID so much. Just as one friend recovers. Another one gets it. Now, one of them has died. If this hasn’t affected you yet and if you’re still not taking this seriously...
1.) You’re incredibly lucky.
2) Start taking it seriously now or your luck might run out.
Y’all.. The cashier at this gas station just said, “I’m getting sick. I’m gonna need to use me some of this.” Then she proceeds to open a bottle of hand sanitizer I was buying and... Yep, she squeezed some into the palm of her own hand.
I mean, okay. But that’s weird. Right?
Had a great first day at

To be clear, Mississippi’s COVID-19 cases dropped *before* the statewide mask mandate ONLY BECAUSE county-by-county mask mandates had been put in place in our hot spots. The statewide mandate helped bring the case numbers down even more.
So yes, masks do work. 😷
Congrats dude!! I never understood the concept of congratulating someone for coming out until I experienced it myself… It’s HUGE! So congratulations on taking that step.
(Also, this is the first time I’ve acknowledged it here on Twitter. So this is nice.)
This is taking a lot out of me for saying this kind thing. I usually keep to myself and haven’t told many people but oh well screw it. It’s 2021 and I’m coming out as gay 🏳️🌈 . It’s who I am, might as well not keep it a secret no more. I’m still the same person I was before.
Today marks 6 years since I joined

I’ve said it once. I’ll say it again. Social media brings out the worst of the worst. You try to be impartial, and you upset somebody. It’s inevitable. And so frustrating. Good night, y’all!!
Just one week til I start my first freelance weather gig with

!
Stay tuned for updates on when you’ll be seeing me on TV across the Mid-South.. 📺 ☔️
A lot of people have asked over the years... What time do you have to wake up and go to sleep in order to do the morning weather?
#amnewsers
Well, the average person wakes up at 6 AM... So for those of you who are “average”, here’s some perspective:
Before all this hit the fan, I used to think... Man, it must be nice to be a dog. They just stay at home, sleep and play. No work. No responsibility.
Now I’m realizing they have one of the most essential jobs out there... Putting a smile on my face when times are ruff. 😭
Update on Mom—After taking the sample of her tumor for biopsy, the doctor says it doesn’t LOOK like bad tissue. BUT they’re still sending it off for an official word. We should know by Wednesday of next week. Thanks again for all your prayers.
I am angry to find that one Memphis news station is running live shots of reporters in the field, telling people to shelter in place… Stay indoors.
But they’re not taking their own advice. JOURNALISTS… BE SAFE! You can say no.
It’s a work in progress… But we’re gearing up our home studio to launch live weather briefings!
Stay tuned to find out when and how you can watch

This is straight out of a horror movie.. This guy has been flying a stolen plane over Tupelo, threatening to crash into WalMart on West Main.
Now he’s almost 50 miles NW, almost like he’s heading toward Memphis. But he’s just making circles over small towns. Bizarre.
This one’s for you

DID YOU SEE IT? A viewer with excellent eye sight spotted a shooting star on our Starkville MDOT cam this morning. Of all our area cameras, what are the odds that I’d pick this one? And on a rainy day, we caught one little break in the clouds in time to see this! Amazing

My passion for weather was first realized at 5 yrs old when I watched Dick Rice’s coverage of the ‘94 ice storm on WTVA.
Oh, how I’d love to pick his brain on how to handle high-impact winter weather events in the south. He was a pro!
This is for you, Dick! ❄️🧊

Our Obi Dog is officially cancer-free! Biopsy results came in, confirming that the tumor we had removed last week WAS cancerous. But it looks like we got it all and it hasn’t spread.
We’re halfway down the road to recovery, so thankful to our friends at

Got some great news this morning... After almost 3 weeks of fighting COVID-19, my buddy is finally free of the virus and now he’s able to focus on getting his strength back!
Thanks for all your prayers!!
I’ve said this during winter weather... And I’ll say it again during severe weather.
If your boss insists that you risk your life to drive in dangerous travel conditions, even when you feel uncomfortable, maybe it’s time you find a new employer.
Just a thought.
Who knew we had our own Grand Canyon here in Mississippi!? Great little day trip for anyone close by... Near Columbia, about halfway between McComb and Hattiesburg! ⛰

Lots of comments have gone around suggesting yesterday's forecast was a miss. But make no mistake. It wasn't. We were blessed!
Although our area saw no tornadoes--Surrounding areas weren't as fortunate. There were at least 23 tornado reports, along w/ lots of hail & wind.

Thought I was losing my mind today when I heard someone yell “Hail State” from across the desert of Southwest Utah… 🏜
Nope! It’s just this awesome family from Mt. Pleasant, MS… What are the odds!?
Jacksonville, Ala. has apparently just taken a direct hit by two large, damaging tornadoes.. Back to back... I have a feeling we won’t know the extent of what has happened in Alabama this evening until after sun-up tomorrow. Thinking and praying for our friends next door.

Couldn’t be happier about this update... Less than three weeks after my friend Caleb and his three boys were in a head-on collision, ALL FOUR of them are HOME!!
They’re still recovering. But they’re alive!! Thanks again for your prayers and support for the Alfords.
Pro Tip: Turn on the closet light before you pick out your outfit. This morning, I realized I grabbed the wrong suit coat as I rushed out the door for work... 🤦🏼♂️
Hey Oxford!! If you haven’t already, you should try out H20 Oxford Oriental Cafe... It’s been around for years. But I’ve somehow managed to overlook it.
