There has been virtually no increase in hospital beds the last few years, govts need to invest in more care in the commmunity eg GPs, HITH and more inpatient beds, not fiddling in the middle with UCCs and bigger EDs (which are both false economies)
AMA Vice President A/Prof Julian Rait told the ABC the federal govt must inject far more money into the public hospital system to tackle the 'hidden waitlist' of Australians needing specialist treatment, with patients waiting up to six years for treatment. https://t.co/enMXyLIvQh

What does that even mean? Sounds like a thought bubble that wasn't discussed with anyone sensible

Disappointingly there was no mention yesterday of early intervention programmes to prevent youth crime. Keeping kids at school is important and more support is required.

The Victorian government is refusing to say whether it will build three community hospitals that were originally meant to be completed more than a year ago.

Congrats
Our premiership coach Jimmy Allan will depart the club, becoming the latest Werribee product to be recruited by an AFL side after accepting a role as an assistant coach working with the backline at St Kilda. đź”— Read more: https://t.co/PioST7PfA8

A disgraceful idea that would be detrimental to the western suburbs
theage.com.au
The tax is intended to be spent building roads, public transport and schools in growing suburbs. Changes mean the money could be spent anywhere.

Today, we pause to honour those who died serving our country. We commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and recognise the crucial role of doctors and other medical and health professionals in our armed forces. Lest we forget.

@AFL How’s the feedback coming fellas? I’ve seen about 100 Tweets just hammering the needless stupidity of Round 25. Have you got any supporting tweets you can point to? PS It’s not too late to package the Stand Rule and Wildcard and fire them into space.

Surely he doesn't really believe what he is saying
AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon has defended the introduction of the new wildcard round, insisting it does not reward mediocrity. https://t.co/pRS0UTaz6M

A shocking decision by Wyndham council for 1/11th of the city. It was to please one councillor!
A crime blitz across Melbourne’s west has seen more than a dozen arrests, but not enough to stop locals taking matters into their own hands. In an extraordinary move, Wyndham Council has hired private security guards set to begin patrolling suburban streets within hours.

RIP one of the good guys in politics
Former federal Labor senator Graham Richardson has died at the age of 76. Richardson was a former Hawke and Keating government minister and powerbroker of Labor’s powerful NSW right faction. Read the full story: https://t.co/bReZmi8sAX

What about air flow around buildings, green space? Many high density cities are very hot in summer requiring huge costs to keep cool
theage.com.au
The cost of housing, and its impact on young Australians, has become one of the nation’s biggest issues. A new plan calls for a “housing revolution”.

Comparison maps. Auckland's isn't to scale while Melbourne's is. But it is clear Auckland has a more comprehensive 7 day frequent network than Melbourne with vastly more suburban connection points.

Does the govt forget it is OUR money?
theage.com.au
Health services did not report how many days of cash they had available at the end of each month in the flurry of documents released last week.

A solution is for the govt to pay for procedures to be done in the private sector, eg the wait for a public colonoscopy in Werribee for a positive bowel screen test is well over 6 months! https://t.co/c93sqDk6qr
