Some beautiful 19th century homes on #Galveston Island. As these survived the storm of 1900, wishing the best for everyone today with #BerylHurricane approaching.

"Multiple Realities: Experimental Art in the Eastern Bloc, 1960s-1908s" @walkerartcenter shows how little it took for artists to be subversive under Communism: posing w/a Lenin sign; using textiles, not painting, asserting womens' condition; painting faces @ a music festival.

Some fascinating icons from the Hill Manuscript Library at St. John's in Collegeville on view @MuseumRusArt including a large calendar icon divided by month, and an Eye of God icon. Most are 19th century. Brought me back to grad school Russian art studies.
