Nice intro for mediation and moderation in DAGs. I had previously been told that drawing an arrow to another arrow was improper, but it seems to be picking up in the causal inference world. I found this paper helpful as an alternative

Perhaps the problem is your pedagogy… “telling” students three times shows a lack of understanding the black box between teaching and learning.

@thoughtafox @CourseKata (Sorry, you caught me as I'm grading projects for my @UCSDMathDept Intro to Math Modeling class, 3 of which have done that so far, despite the fact that the students were told repeatedly not to make statistical models for their projects, much less bad ones!)

@mrnesi Zaption. It's been so many years and still I dream of what could have been... Zaption's team was so intentional in their design & it was an #edtech tool that truly helped me grow as an educator. Forever grateful for that. @fitzwalsh @charliestigler @jimstigler 💔

A truly inspiring figure - and a great loss. And a project that will take generations to accomplish. We cannot give up.

Very sad to learn of the death of Robert Moses, civil rights hero and founder and leader of the Algebra Project. To my math cognition and math education friends, I highly recommend that you read his book, Radical Equations: Civil Rights from Mississippi to the Algebra Project.

People remember material better when they make spontaneous gestures, watch a teacher’s movements or use their hands and arms to imitate the instructor. And telling learners to move in specific ways can help them learn.

Nice piece on a recent study by @IcyZhang4, Karen Givvin, Jeffrey Sipple, @cogscimom, & @jimstigler showing that producing gestures helps students learn a foundational statistical concept.

Are you trying to teach students about statistical models, histograms, means, predictions? New research out in @cogsci_soc shows that instructing students to move their hands along with an instructional video helps them learn these #Statistics concepts! https://t.co/MVgNznV8KU

Does teaching students HARD STUFF (such as DATA = MODEL + ERROR) result in transferable thinking? Newly accepted paper details how @CourseKata students are prepared for future learning of more complex models! with @theadamattack, Laura Fries, @jimstigler https://t.co/oTZDyWYScE
