55 years ago today, the Apollo 11 rocket crawled along the three-and-a-half-mile journey to Launch Pad 39A. The 363-foot-high space vehicle later launched Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. on the first crewed lunar landing mission.

The 48-foot-long (14.6m) swing arm has extended into position, bridging the Space Launch Complex-41 Crew Access Tower to the #Starliner spacecraft. The 8-person Blue Team -- comprised of ULA and Boeing representatives -- will prepare the White Room and open the crew module hatch.
