I have no opinion on whether this is good or bad, only an observation that this is how it is these days.
This is the way shows end these days. There is rarely a moment where a studio says "we're not making any more", there is only a protracted "decision-making period" that never comes to a decision.

Minus the scenarios when a creator chooses to end it at a certain point, or word comes down that the studio probably doesn't want to make more so the creator ends it themself.

Congrats to Jim Mortensen (Nickelodeon Animation Studios "Big Nate") who recently joined Disney Television Animation as PA in a new NDA series at the studio. Mortensen created the Nickelodeon pilot "Torum Tellum" who luckly managed to keep the rights after Nick passed on it.
