Info in the thread🧵
This is so fascinating! I've spent so long trying to figure out how to emulate that style and maaan does it envolve a lot of different knowledge.
I feel like I got somewhere with this Kim Possible, but there's still something missing
Far right is the painted 2D concept art.
Far left is the 3D character model.
I remember being absolutely baffled by the translation between the two mediums. Amazing work by the artists.

Hello
#portfolioday
!
My name is Lechar and I'm a 2D/3D artist specialized in character work.
I really like exploring different art styles :)
Portfolio:
I worked on Fade's cinematic as a texture/lookdev artist. It was a lot of work, but I'm really proud of what the team achieved :)
Here's Neon:

Hey, y'all!
I'm happy to say that I'm OPEN FOR WORK (both full-time and freelance).
Also, commissions will be open for some time now. I'll my links to the thread :)
I really miss doing handpainted texture work. I got the opportunity to paint a few Valorant characters for cinematics during my time at Lightfarm and it was a lot of fun!
My supervisor talked to me about something he calls "anime protagonist syndrome" and it's when someone is always freaking out about needing to be the absolute best at something and if they're not, it's like the end of the world.
I worked on the latest Valorant cinematic as a texture/lookdev artist and I got to work on Harbor! This was the most complex character I painted and I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.
Y'all someday I'll work on something like Spiderverse. Something that will make me almost burst with pride and make me feel like all these hours studying were worth it.
Just thinking about how many passionate people worked on it, man...idk it's just so moving to me.
That Kim Possible was one of my first attempts btw! When I worked on Fade's cinematic, I had the chance to take the texturing further and I feel like that got to a pretty interesting result as well.

I was fortunate enough to work as a concept/visual development artist on the Valorant cinematic "A Cor da Cidade".
Here's a piece I painted at the beginning of the project to figure out a possible visual style for the film.
Another character I had the opportunity to work on as a texture artist was Fade! She took the longest because the movie was all about her :)

Nerding out about stylized rendering techniques is one of my biggest passions btw
I can talk hours about how I tried using the global illumination to kill the AO pass and painted it myself on the textures to make the model feel less real and that kind of shit
At our studio we usually try to create a Keyart image during production. It works to define and show everyone what our final movie will look like. Here are the two I made for Neon and Raze's cinematics we did.
Here's something else I did when we were working on Neon's agent trailer. We were working on her facial rig and I made this guide to help push some of her expressions
I'm still quite proud of this Caduceus piece I did some time ago. It took me a long time to figure out the design and to do the line work. I really want to make something like this again.
Here's something that works for me: instead of redrawing the line on another layer, try erasing out bits from the sketch until it feels clean enough for you!
