If you are hiring and you don't get back to everyone, it's really shitty behaviour. There's no excuse to only respond to shortlisted applicants, or other rubbish like this. You don't have to manually write each response, do it in bulk, but don't leave them wondering.

G̶r̶a̶p̶h̶i̶c̶ ̶d̶e̶s̶i̶g̶n̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶h̶i̶s̶t̶o̶r̶y̶. It’s now much cheaper to get things done poorly. AI is currently overhyped. It’s amazing technology and only going to get better. But all the excitement right now is doing things poorly, fast.

If your customers are small businesses, you might notice they are very price sensitive. There was a clue though in the name, they are “small businesses”, they don’t have big profits and cash flow. You will need to offer much more value than you take to succeed.

I’m not against ChatGPT, it has some great uses already. In the short term though, when people want to use it for everything, I think we’re just going to see a lot of tasks done poorly. Cheaper, and faster, but lower in quality. You need to decide if that trade off is worth it.

We had many applicants use ChatGPT to answer the question in our form. They were not successful. If ChatGPT could answer our customers enquiries well, we wouldn’t be hiring, we’d use it. Our customers deserve a great support experience, and that still requires real people.

Applications have closed for the customer support role we advertised. We had 1,462 applicants, so will take a week or two to get back to everyone.

The irony of using ChatGPT for a competitive advantage, when I think the biggest competitive advantage that will emerge is not using ChatGPT. “By real humans” is going to become valuable marketing.

Just two days 2 go! And a tip for those applying, many so far have leaned on ChatGPT to help them and it’s…. not helping them. We don’t use bots to provide support for a reason, and it’s not going to achieve the quality you need to get through.

Sending an email with ChatGPT-4:.“Convert these bullet points into a nicely worded email.”. The person receiving it with ChatGPT-4:.“Summarise this email into bullet points”. I for one am excited for the time saving this will bring. The future is bright! ☀️.
