Absolutely brutal subscription anti-pattern used by @EducativeInc. You must sign up for auto-renewal to get access, and there is no reminder prior to being charged. Lesson for us SaaS companies looking to prioritize customer experience vs. counting on folks to forget things.

Kafka excels at handling real-time data streams, offering a reliable, distributed, and fault-tolerant solution. However, it can take a long time to build even the simplest applications on top of Kafka. TypeStream makes it easy: šŸ‘‡

When Home Assistant detects high particulate consistently for four minutes, it turns on the fan using a Sonoff S20 smart plug with ESPHome installed. Reverse when the particulate is low.

The air filter is simply 4 HEPA filters from Amazon with an inline duct fan sitting on top. It ain't pretty but it work very well. Inspired by @dynomight7's article here

This connects up natively with @home_assistant and collects data every minute or so. You can see from the particulate in the air that my contractor arrives around 8am and leaves around 4pm.

I was out of the loop on one of the teams I managed. We found we hadn't landed on the right level of updates that I felt I needed. We agreed on giving any kind of update daily and I'd let him know if it's too much. It's been the right amount. Easy win to build alignment.

Great article @nonpedantic! I would add one more:.- Prototype / Sales Engineer - Able to pull pieces together quickly to demonstrate value. TL;DR.- Software Architect More niche than a Staff Engineer.- Product Management - I did this for awhile. Very valuable for an eng.

Great thread on giving feedback folks! The only piece I would add:. Give feedback as close as possible to when you see a situation. This gives the individual a quick feedback loop to improve and they have a concrete example they can replay to do better next time.

Giving feedback is easy. Giving good feedback is SO hard. I’ve coached many low performers and given feedback on technical + behavioral situations. Some didn’t go the way I planned. But over time, I learned how to structure + deliver it well. 6 Tips I’ve Learned āœļø.
