Engineer on @Google Photos — Building Ask Photos
Cupertino, CA
Joined June 2007
The news is out! I've been working on bringing this to the world for more than a year and it was surreal to see @sundarpichai on stage telling everyone 🥲.
Ask Photos, a new feature coming to @GooglePhotos, makes it easier to search across your photos and videos with the help of Gemini models. It goes beyond simple search to understand context and answer more complex questions. #GoogleIO

This deeply resonates. Too many times people are quick to say "just give everything to the model", "just RAG top k" or "tweak the prompt". In practice it's a delicate dance and one that is very hard to engineer -- but a fun problem to work on!.
+1 for "context engineering" over "prompt engineering". People associate prompts with short task descriptions you'd give an LLM in your day-to-day use. When in every industrial-strength LLM app, context engineering is the delicate art and science of filling the context window.

I am so excited about this and have been for so long and we're working tirelessly to bring this to you all asap!.
Our goal is to make Gemini the most personal, proactive, and powerful AI assistant. We’ve already made it possible to connect your Search history with the app, and soon, with your permission, you’ll be able to add even more personal context from across Google to your Gemini

Your yearly reminder that @ParisAeroport is a terrible international airport that focuses only on luxury facilities and provides nearly nothing for normal traveling people including places to eat and places to sit when you eat. This year's reminder is sponsored by Terminal 2E.
